Ron Gray
Dirk, I get worn out just looking at what you are doing! You must be cream crackered.
alan p
Hi Dirk Where are you getting the parting board shape profiles from. They suit the curves so closely?
dirk tinck
Hi all ! @ Ron :I'm not familiar with the term but i can guess what you mean ! Yes ,i'm empty at the end of the day but i'm so close now... @ Alan : I't a lot of fitting and shaping before i'm happy with the fit , but the better the parting boards fit , the higher the quality of the mould ! Mean while , the front section is ready to wax ! I also got the plastic half balls out with good result !! The little spot next to the imprint is a spot i missed with the moulding resin , no problem ... The themperature is rising every day on the first floor of my shed , so i don't know if i can make the nose section mould this weekend. I would love some AC in here ! dirk tinck
Hello all ! Still 25 deg. on the workfloor but i took the risque...My only concern is that the working time of the epoxy will be shorter due to the themp. After the waxing and applying the pva , i started with the moulding resin . It became tacky much quicker than usually , but no problem... The same for the epoxy resin , it cures quicker , so i prepaired smaller amounts to work with. This copletes the third part of the fuselage mould. After curing i can clean up the edges and go on with the other half
GrumpyGnome
Simply amazing! Makes you understand why 'mouldies' are so expensive........
McG 6969
Really looking forward to see your fuselage mouldings done, Dirk. Keep up your energy now, please... Cheers Chris
dirk tinck
Hello all ! @ GrumpyGnome , Very true , there's a lot of work involved ! Besides that , a mouldy is suposed to be usable direct out of the mould , no paint ! @ Mc G ,i'm too far and invested too much to give up now ! Back to the magister ! I'm prepairing the motor hatch opening and the third quarter of the fuse mould. I didn't thrust it , to make the hatch opening inside flanges in one piece with the fuse mould so this is my solution. The down side of this , is two extra mould pieces...per hatch. This is an image of the fuse front section , half moulded, the plasticine not cleaned away... x x x x x
dirk tinck
Hi all! I know it's becomming boring , and all these pic's look alike ,but rest assured , there's progress ! The fuselage plug was prepaired to make the third quarter of the fuse mould. And laminated like the first two. The day after , the edges were cleaned up , and the plug made ready for the forth quarter No parting boards to make here as i can use the flanges of the first and third mould pieces, exept the front side were the nose section mould comes. Almost forgot : The exhaust mould piece. x
dirk tinck
Hi all , As planned , i got the only parting board in place that seperates the front fuselage part , from the rear. The only thing left to do is to free the little exhaust area from the fuse mould. After filling a few gaps with plasticine , i can start waxing and seal the plug with pva (release agent ). Laminating the forth fuse quarter will be for next week due to business reasons. Stay tuned !!

dirk tinck
Hi Alan , i sure don't look like one !? Meanwhile , the forth quart of the fuselage mould is done ! The parting board between rear and front is already removed and the front part is cleaned up. I also made the parting boards to seperate the nose hatch opening. After filling a few gaps , this part , the last big piece ! , is ready to wax . We're a long way from home but this will be a big step forward !
dirk tinck
Hi all ! After the waxing , pva and moulding resin , the sixt fuselage mould was laminated. Following the six big fuse parts there are still the front hatch moulds (2) and the motor hatch moulds(2) and finally the exhaust moulds (2) to make ! After a clean up around the nose hatch opening , i made up two little parting boards to seperate the two hatch opening moulds. Next days this part will be waxed and prepaired for moulding
dirk tinck
Hi all, The hatch opening was waxed and covered with pva tonight. the time left , i cleaned up the first exhaust area. This part is made seperated from the rest to make demoulding easyer , i hope it's worth the extra work ! This part will be laminated together with the hatch opening : It will save me a few days

dirk tinck
Hi all ! Just a little clean up after removing the two little parting boards who seperate the two nose hatch opening moulds. After waxing and pva , this opposite part is ready to mould tomorrow. I also cleaned up the second exhaust area and waxed it. That makes two parts ready for moulding. I had a little mishap cleaning up the second exhaust?.While i was cleaning the gap (above in the pic), i was in fact carving away some material of the plug ! I repaired it with some filler and it will only give a rough edge on the actual fuselage wich can be sanded away , no worries ! Untill tomorrow ! dirk tinck
Hi again ! Another two moulds done ! Two to go ! The last two moulds are the ones who provide the inner edge of the motor hatch opening. Not the easyest to make ! Stay tuned ! Next week is the grand opening !??? x

McG 6969
... same here, Phil. But, I suppose Dirk must be even more curious (anxious?) to contemplate the results of his hard labour... Not that long to wait now. ? Cheers Chris
dirk tinck
Thanks Chris and Phil for the visit ! Patience is a virtue gentlemen !! Pushed the limits again this evening , cleaning up the motor hatch opening , getting the two parting boards in place ,wax the setup five times and cover it with a layer of pva . All is ready for another mould tomorrow ! The second last in a long row . The arrows point out the parting boards The plug lost some paint inside the box but not in crucial areas, i just need the inside edges , remember ? more fun tomorrow !!
