Callsign Tarnish
I stand for the cutting and gluing etc, sit for jobs like soldering.
Jason-I
As my current build is too big for my workbench, it is on the dining room table. I am making good use of the chairs!
cymaz
Sit and stand, though my motorbike injury won’t let me stand for too long.
Ron Gray
Unless it's a very small model (indoor) I stand, as sitting I can't get to all parts of the model.
Ronaldo
Standing mainly, for hours at a time ...I do have a stool, but mainly use it if I'm soldering or doing some close up delicate work, ... oh yes, and I sit down when my other half brings me a cuppa, bless her
Peter Miller
Mostly stand but do sit quite often as my bench is a bit too low
Tim A
Always stand, probably due to work we never sit at the bench.

Ace
Bench height built for standing so I can reach/move around the model.
David P Williams
Me too. Built my main bench at 1 metre high - perfect standing working height for me. Have another bench for sitting, mostly for soldering. I also bought one of these which makes standing all day much easier on the legs and feet. Outrunner
Stand, I do have a chair in the workshop but I only use it to stand on and reach things. Phil.
Gary52
Both! I have a workbench made out of an old cabin bed, allowing me to stand or use a bar stood or sit if I want to. Gary
Rob
I stand to build and sit down on an old stool from a breakfast bar when contemplating my next move and enjoying a brew and a biscuit!
leccyflyer
I've gone back temporarily to a temporary workbench, which is a drafting machine table, so the height is too high really to sit, so for the moment I stand. For the past half a dozen years I've been using my ex-office desk as a workbench, with reduced headroom as it was located in the eaves of the house, so that was all sitting down. I prefer to stand. i12fly
Sitting. With large tool cupboard within reach (a triple wardrobe much modified -I do have to get up to reach over to the third section). Unfortunately, to get to building materials I have to get up and take one step to the side. Yes its a small room, limits my builds to about 6ft span. Pete Crosby
I like to sit to build, but do machine work standing up. I have my little shed setup so i can sit at a my bench and work on most things aero but I also make static scale stuff and scifi stuff., The other end is raised up to kitchen worktop hight. On my high bench I have drill press, bandsaw, sanding machine and a small CNC router, my sitty down side has electronics dev/repair area and 3d printing space, I have to sit most of the time as I have a damaged knee and a done in hip... no been replaced yet.. dont want too. MaxG
I usually stand but that makes my back ache sometimes. I made a workstand thing that goes in my bench vice to allow small items to be worked on with a straight back. Got the idea from a utube video of a high end watchmaker factory in Switzerland. It doubles as a fretsaw bench and a flat cutting board. The black cutting board is a discarded chopping board from SWMBO. It works very well for me and also has the advantage of moving small items nearer my aged eyes. Maxg
Martin Harris - Moderator
TBH the idea of sitting down to build has never occurred to me and I'm sure I'd be getting up every few seconds if I tried it. However, researching, planning builds, creating 3D printer designs etc. is all done from my laptop by my armchair.
Pete Crosby
Now thats a good idea, may have to diy me one of those I have a few large pieces of 25mm thick Polypropylene which would make me a nice flat top for cutting on.
Peter Jenkins
+1 for standing. It never seems to be tiring till I come back into the house and sit down and then I feel like I've walked a few miles! As I always seem to end up bending over or twisted into an odd shape while I fiddle with something that's buried in the build I also end up with back ache! Sad, I'm getting to be an old git! Oh, alright then, I am an Old Git!
Brian Cooper
It's a mixture of both for me. When sitting, I use a chair with adjustable height for comfort and convenience, plus it has castors so I can trundle from one end of the bench to the other with ease. Not just an old git, but a lazy old git.
