Cambrian Model Company's Answer build.

Recommended Posts

While all the white glue is drying, I thought I would put the tail together. I had already made to fin, which I used as a spacer for the two middle ribs, this ensures a nice tight fit. (anyone remember them ??)

I soaked the 3/16th sq leading edge and then bent it around the assembled tail, pinned down well.

This build will slow down a bit as I'm back to work tomorrow (Boooooooooooo)

Mind you if the stress kicks in and give's me another fit, I may well be back on it .LOL

Cycling everyday despite the weather, as no driving allowed, forecast looks fine.

Wish me luck Boys. crookcheeky

Hi McG,

I think it's the same for everyone matey, for example, after I did the covering I put the side stringers on the fuselage.

There wasn't enough 1/8th square material in the kit so I had to make the last one out of pieces.

I didn't mention it, so from your point of view, the build went smoothly.

Thank goodness for the scrap bin Eh ?

Nice to know you are looking in tho Mate.

Hi All, as mentioned in another thread, I had ordered snakes and a little threading tool from RCWorld.

The Royal mail sent me an email to say they had the parcel and it would be delivered on Wednesday between

9 and 1. On said day I got the email to say it had been delivered......it hadn't !!

It came today like this, postie said you better check it's all there.

The snakes were sticking out of the end, luckily the little threaded rod driver was in there, thanks to Suzie's good packing.

Snake outers measured and cut.

The servo end, I cut the arms down to fit the narrow chassis.

The threading tool, it takes both 2 and 3 mm rods.

Inners made up. (if you look close LOL)

The tail skid fitted.

I covered the under side first, to make things easier later.

Would you believe it, the wing band dowel holes line up directly with the newly installed snakes. laugh

So I moved the holes. It would be great if you could buy a bag of holes, then you could put one where you wanted it without the grief.

I also added pads to the sides to help when covering.

Old position as per plan.

img_20201205_213131.jpg

New position, as per Dibley Towers. I may brace this even more as it doesn't have the support of the main side stringer.

Just clearing now.

Pads.

I covered the skid as well.

Looking out of my workshop window.

Normally you can see Clee hills over there.

When I wasn't looking at the view I was sanding and fixing the snakes, a bit of covering was needed before fixing the snake outers.

I made my usual balsa cradle/clamp to secure the snakes.

Then I covered the fuselage in good old Hobby king burnt Orange translucent.

The final radio installation.

Where the battery will sit.

Sanded the "nose", I used 1/8th sheet underneath and not the supplied 1/2 " block insert.

OK, No more of this until 06.21.

img_20201214_123352.jpg

So I chucked a wing in the bath (after a good sanding) for the designated 15 minutes, and then pinned it down over the 4 formers.

I will leave it over night just to make sure before I do the next one.

I went easier than I expected, I don't know why I was worried really, just made sure all the datum lines were marked and aligned.

D.D.

Having a soak. clock
