Cambrian Model Company's Answer build.

Recommended Posts

Well that rules me out of building an Answer (or questions my building an Answer?). We don't have a bath! When we realised we only used it to stand in when having a shower we replaced with it proper shower cabinet and avoided the risk of slipping over as we climbed in. Always a risk at our age

Other than that, you're doing a great job. The only vintage style model I've built was a Popsie which I never got to fly and is one of myriad aeromodelling failures.

Perhaps a neighbour could help Geoff ..wink Mind you, if you are quick, torrential rain is on the menu for next week LOL.

On a serious note I think I could have gotten away with simply running the things under the tap mate.

Thanks for the compliment anyway, it's appreciated.

Your Popsie, do you mean it was unflyable, or you just never got round to it ?

Well there are a lot of puddles in the lane outside

Yes, the Popsie seemed to be unflyable. I had a struggle getting the CoG right and then it simply wouldn't taxi straight enough to take off. I had a short flight tail heavy with no damage but then I gave up and shoved it in the loft over the workshop.

I used a set of cnc parts made by someone on the 'other' forum. Perhaps I should have another go at it.

But this is all about your Answer rather than my Popsie.

The wing is now covered, and the uncambered part went better than I expected.

I have done one before, but this H.K. film shrinks like nobody's business, so I left a bit more slack than you normally would, and ironed the covering onto the ribs with the iron set at about 140 degrees.

Anyway, it worked well and here's the final result.

Amazingly, the model balanced bang on the C of G, with out any lead/extra ballast.

The battery is slid down the former that Tim slid his up. surprise

Another model joins the pile to maiden when Covid finally goes away.

Next on the bench is an RBC Kits Messerschmitt M-19......If it turns up LOL.

Balanced on the spot.

Trying to show the undercambered covering.
