Tosh McCaber
Just received for my next little plane, via Amazon Prime Next Day Delivery, a package containing a 30A ESC, 2200KV A2212/6T Brushless Motor, including spinner and cruciform metal mount, as well as 2 6x4 props, all for the princely sum of 16 squid, no postage charge. Looks good, so far! I'm OK with the motor- the ESC was a bonus. However, I'm concerned as to the reliability of the unbranded SEC- I don't want a runaway overheating, and an incinerated plane! I wondered if anyone has previous experience with such inexpensive speed controllers? Edited By Tosh McCaber on 27/07/2020 11:50:
Graham Davies 3
Hi Tosh, I've bought two similar package deals via Ebay. I have two unbranded 30A ESCs and a 40A job The 40A one has had quite a bit of flight time. Touch wood, all three have been fine. I gave mine a bit of run time to weed out any infant mortality problems, otherwise, cheap smiles! Graham
MattyB
If you are worried just give it a decent run on the bench and see how it fairs - if it survives the first 20-30 mins of representative use there then it should be fine to install in a model. Gary Manuel
What makes you think that branded ones are any more reliable?
Brian Hammond
I agree with Gary,I think most of the stuff comes from the same factories like branded and own brand groceries!
John Wagg
Mines in a Tomboy. Not flown it a lot but no problems so far, Edited By John Wagg on 27/07/2020 13:44:
Tosh McCaber
Well, I thought that it was a bit of a bargain! Just wondered if it was a case of buy cheap- buy dear- but it seems- not necessarily! Looking forward to getting it in the air.
