Mowerman
I am in the process of clearing out all sorts of old (and forgotten) books and have found a set (Volumes 1 to10) of books titled Wings. I con not remember where or when I got them so any information would be helpful. They have the look of having been published as a series of magazines an are in hard back holders. There is no Publication data in the front of any of them, looking through the would seem to originate from the late 1970s,judging from the details in the text. Any body know any thing about them and any ideas of value?
Cuban8
There's a bound set of Wings magazines on Ebay going for around £100 - are these the ones ? £100 seems very optimistic in my opinion. la-939009505346&abcId=1145987&merchantid=7401274&gclid=Cj0KCQjw7ZL6BRCmARIsAH6XFDJ_z9TyZXCJmUUyL1wDkJ5rUJLi-cRLC5LIa2YM_ipzKnei0N1ONLcaAm8HEALw_wcB">https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/380871812302?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=380871812302&targetid=939009505346&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1006644&poi=&campaignid=10204071489&mkgroupid=107296306292&rlsatarget=aud-629407027345la-939009505346&abcId=1145987&merchantid=7401274&gclid=Cj0KCQjw7ZL6BRCmARIsAH6XFDJ_z9TyZXCJmUUyL1wDkJ5rUJLi-cRLC5LIa2YM_ipzKnei0N1ONLcaAm8HEALw_wcB I have several volumes of Flypast Magazine from issue number 1 when it was actually worth reading - not particularly valuable either.............now, If I'd have kept all those US import Spiderman Comics bought as a kid in the mid '60 we'd be talking big bucks. Geoff S
I have several decades worth of Motor Cycle Sport from the first magazine issue (it started out in newspaper format) which I can't bear to throw out. It's a companion of Motor Sport and contributors were known only by their initials. They're all good solid reading with few adverts and valuable for vintahe restorers. If I could find a good home I'd be happy I used to deal in Superman, Batman and Captain Marvel comics at school in the early 50s. 2d/copy - I wish I still had a few. Martin Harris - Moderator
In retrospect rather stupidly - who would have predicted the World Wide Web in the mid 70s - I collected these magazines on a weekly basis (and bought the binders) as a reference source. They are still stored in my loft but as observed, aren't much use and of seemingly negligible fiscal value. It would have been from around 1975 - 77 if my recollections/calculations are correct. kc
Geoff, you will find there is a section on Magazine Exchange which sell Motorcycle Sport back issues. Prices seem to be around a couple of pounds an issue. That would be a place to sell your collection. There is a similar site for all the aeromodelling magazines of course. As executor I had to find a home for my brother's huge collection of motor magazines, the advice from many people was you will just have to dump them. That would have been terrible! It didn't take much effort to find someone who wanted them and he paid well over a hundred pounds for the lot and took them away. I laughed all the way to the bank!
