What folding prop

Recommended Posts

OK so I'm strugling to find out what folding prop I need

The model is a hollein introduction glider 2.860 wing & 920g flying weight

I've got a overlander tornado thumper 2826/09 motor

With a 30a esc with Bec and a 1300mah 11.1 3s battery

These aren't the recommended gear but what I was told in shop would be OK.

Also the motor has a 3mm shaft would a 3.2mm or a 3.1mm be too big to clamp down ??

Cheers

I'm afraid you've had bad advice on the motor. The KV is too high, meaning it would be limited to using a prop too small for a decent climb rate with this model. IMO a heavier motor with smaller (lighter} 3s lipo would be a more suitable combo.
I suggest you read this thread on the Inside F5J & go for a similar power train to one of those.

I intend using one of these Keda motors with a 3s 900 mAH lipo when I build the Introduction. My Amigo 2 glider is powered by the 1050kv version of the same Keda motor driving a 9x5 prop. I could use a larger dia prop for faster climb rate but as the Amigo is a vintage glider I'm satisfied with the slower but still fairly brisk climb rate.

A 3.1mm/3.2mm can't be used with a 3mm shaft.

Completely agree, the KV is far too high.

Personally I would be looking for a motor in the 1000 to 1250 Kv range producing 250 to 300 watts on a 3s battery. You will need to know the max diameter that will fit in the fuselage, my guess is a 2826 or 2834 might fit.

Once you have your motor sorted, choose the correct spinner/yoke/prop blade configuration from the Aeronaut range.

Hyperflight recommend the following power systems for this glider.

Powertrain Recommendations
Axi 2217/16 V2 Long 2S 900mAh LiPo, 12x6 or 12x7
Axi 2217/16 V2 Long 3S 900mAh LiPo, 10x6 or 10x7
Hacker A20-22L 3S 900mAh LiPo, 11x6
Hacker A20-20L 3S 900mAh LiPo, 10x7
Dualsky XM2826EA-10 45g outrunner 2S 900mAh LiPo, 10x7
Turnigy C2826-1350 3S 900mAh LiPo, 9x4.5
Mega 16/15/4 2S 900mAh LiPo, 8x4
Mega 16/15/5 3S 900mAh LiPo, 7x5
