Forum Colour Themes

Recommended Posts

At the huge risk of 10 members giving us 11 different opinions, we've managed to get a second, slightly tweaked colour scheme up and running.

Hopefully this will address issues for some folk who find the default scheme a bit bright on the eyes etc.

To give it a try, scroll right down to the bottom of the screen. Alongside the Privacy Policy you'll see a Theme selection button.

Very little has been tweaked. See what you think.

This should certainly address the problems encountered by some members who have complained of eye strain from the white background.  For the most part, I prefer the default scheme but it's great to have a choice.

You can't hope to please everyone but I think this option may go a long way towards addressing the needs of almost everyone.

I'll stick with the original thanks. I find the lack of contrast between the grey background and text harder to read, even though it's larger.

This is what's great about having the choice. Who knows, some may prefer to switch between them in differing lighting conditions.

I don't mind either lighter or darker, but switching between them is so easy, and it remembers which theme you have selected.

I changed it on the PC to darker, then when opened the site up on my phone it was already in the darker theme. Changed it back on my phone and that changes it on my PC as well - brilliant.

Having moved back and forth a few times, I think I will leave it in the darker version for now.

There is a subtle difference in behaviour Ron. The default scheme is fixed width while the darker one has dynamic width which fills out higher resolution screens better. It's all a bit of a compromise in order to try to suit as many users using as many types of devices as possible.

Dynamic is better as the screens resolve themselves to different platforms. But minor nitpicking really!
