J D 8
Have just used some for the first time fixing garden fence [ boy are my fingers sticky ]? Just would like some advice on the best way to store open bottle for later model use. Thanks, John.
Gary Manuel
Store it with the lid well pushed on and the bottle upside down. This should keep (moist) air away from the glue. Edited March 5, 2021 by Gary Manuel
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Squeeze as much air as possible out of the bottle before replacing the cap. PU glue react with moisture in the air to foam & set...

But seriously, Data sheet says "Carc. 2; Suspected of causing cancer" amongst other things. Like all chemicals, it needs to be used with care. Don't inhale, or drink it and try to avoid getting too much of it on your hands. https://cdn3.evostore.io/documents/vow/gg00010_coshh.pdf
Don Fry
I used to work in a polymer research facility. Wandering round the stores, every bottle had a label “ The carcinogenic properties of this material are unknown. Exercise due caution”. J D 8
Oh err, just as well I have thick skin on my fingers, get out the sand paper. Thanks for the info all, Cheers.
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Might be worth pointing out that as it foams it can move the components you are trying to glue.....best to clamp them securely until the glue is dry.....?
Colin Bernard
If you think the bottle has gone off and feels solid, before throwing it out it is worth just opening the bottle and using an old screwdriver to break through the solid surface - you may find the glue underneath is perfectly useable as the set glue has protected the rest from moisture - recently had to use an old bottle in this state, and the resulting joint using the remaining glue was fine on a bit of outdoor furniture. I echo Steve's comment about clamping - fail to do so at your peril! And keep it off skin and clothes - once on it's there forever!!
Ron Gray
I just love Gorilla glue and use the brown, white and clear, in fact the white is now my general purpose ‘go to’ glue. As others have said store the brown stuff upside down then when you get near the end of the bottle decant it into a smaller one (warm the glue up first to make it easier to pour). Martian
Can be microwaved for 20 to 30 seconds to increase fluidity if starting to thicken then when you have used what you need reseal quickly .heating is also ideal to get it to flow in awkward places . Andy Stephenson
If you look carefully there is a pair of polythene gloves in the packet to prevent you getting the stuff on your hands. I recently used the foaming variety to sheet some foam wings. It does need some clamping to ensure the foaming action doesn't push the joint apart. The pack I got from a DIY outlet seemed much more fluid than the one I purchased from an model shop online. I suspect they had it in stock for a while. Ron Gray
My last bottle was a large one (not the 1Lt size ?) and that suffered from slow flow in colder weather. I'm now using the 115ml bottle and that can be easily warmed on the oil filled rad in the workshop.

Once built a club 20 model with Gorilla glue didn't clamp it and had to put a 40 in it.
