leccyflyer
Germany started better and brighter, but England have grown into the game as the half went on and took control in possession. Quite finely balanced at the moment.
leccyflyer
Best team won in the end - England outfought Germany there for 60 out of the 90 minutes. Sterling MOTM looked sharp and dangerous throughout, but it was a proper team performance. Grealish has to start the next game. Well done England -really didn't expect that. ?

Steve Colman
I'm very happy that England won the game and on balance I think deservedly so. And, it is nice to put one over on Germany for a change. However, I saw nothing that inspired me to believe that England have any real hope of winning the competition. Much of the passing is sideways or backwards and there seems very to be little momentum and even less creativity in the play in general. Sadly, against a competent team I think England will be found wanting.
john stones 1 - Moderator
Not a classic by any means, we got through though, keepers a bit good thankfully.
Martin Harris - Moderator
I'd prefer to look at the positives - defence holding up and the team gathering confidence and momentum. Maybe Kane's goal will be the catalyst for him to regain some form? Having said that, I'd say that Pickford was a strong candidate for MoM.

Steve Colman
England v Ukraine. One of my best mates here in Spain is Ukranian so should be lots of good banter.
Peter Jenkins
Hmm Ukraine don't look very threatening. Wonder if they will be a different team against England? Any team in a 1/4 final should be taken seriously though.
Richard Acland
I would advise the English players to wear two pairs of shin pads and some light body protection when they play the Ukraine.
john stones 1 - Moderator
I took the positive, we got through, we've not conceded a goal, injuries are few. I would also say we're in the best half of the draw, but tempting fate is not wise. ?

Peter Jenkins
My prediction is that the final will be England vs Italy and that Italy will win 2-1 based on their record so far in this tournament.

Gary Manuel
Not a footy fan but follow big events. Looked like a convincing win to me... but Ukraine are not really known as a footballing nation.
Ron Gray
Agreed but 4 goals, a clean sheet and a generally commanding performance, not things we are usually saying about England at a tournament!

leccyflyer
England have got better, game by game and now look confident and competent. That was a very good performance, throughout the team and even throughout the squad. I did think before the game that the Ukraine's exertions against Sweden might cause them to fade, but ot never really came to that.
Geoff Copping
I gave up watching football years ago because all they seemed to do was fall over and pretend they were hurt, slide tackle to take the other player out, spend their time falling about trying to get free kicks and penalties and rarely pass the ball but just keep hoofing the ball down the middle hoping a 'striker' would get to it first which usually lost posession. My wife happened to click on it as the second half was starting and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. They were actually playing football !!!? No falling over, passing the ball like a team to create openings, no dirty tackles and no extra 'injury' time because they weren't pretending they were hurt every two minutes. I quite enjoyed it. I'm even considering watching another game if this is the new normal??
