Light sand of the airframe...400 grit 2 coats of 50:50 non shrink dope/ thinners light sand ...400 grit 3-4 coats of 50:59 non shrink dope/ thinners there should be a good gloss film on the balsa of the 50:50 non shrink dope/thinners cut the nylon to size, allow 2” margin l round pin the nylon onto the frame, there should be no creases, don’t over tighten starting from root end, ( we’ll do a wing for example) paint plenty of thinners over the nylon ,working a section at a time eg wing bay Remove the pins, ONLY WHERE YOU'VE PUT THINNERS working the nylon with an old credit card. What you’re trying to achieve is softening the dope then working this into the weave of the nylon. Keep doing this until the thinners has evaporated. Work the nylon so you don’t ruck up the nylon and keeping the weave straight and even across the whole area. once the whole side is done, trim all the excess, as any other covering seal all the edges with 3 coats of 50:50 non shrink dope/ thinners repeat for the top of the wing, work the edges into the dope applied on the edges Always use a respirator and good quality brushes use a steamer to steam the nylon, work back and front at the same time to avoid twists. Then use a heat gun, the nylon will shrink before your eyes. Don't over heat, the nylon will melt a hole Allow to dry thoroughly 3 coats of 50:50 SHRINKNG dope/ thinners lightly sand all the edges to remove any thread strays. 3 coats of 50:50 non shrink dope/ thinners to fill the weave. allow to dry. the nylon should be smooth to the touch and drum tight. If I’ve missed something out , remind me! Edited December 6, 2021 by cymaz

cymaz
No problem. I longed for a step-by-step guide myself ! There’s always the trade off between cost and effort.
