Ron Gray Posted October 11, 2021 Author Share Posted October 11, 2021 Too true Tim, I like using cyano, medium not thin, as a ‘stitching’ medium as it’s fairly instant on GF fibres and as soon as it’s applied the shape is held ready for the next bit. Ron Gray Posted October 17, 2021 Author Share Posted October 17, 2021 Not much progress this week but the cowl is ready for finishing coats! After glassing the inside to regain its shape I then used P38 to fill in the 'scars' on the outside and a block of balsa stuck to the cowl to infill the bit that was ripped out in the crash (the bit that mates up to the wing LE). This was all sanded down then some 'Freddy's Sauce' applied as a sort of knifing filler and that too was sanded down. Primer coat applied which will highlight any areas that need more filling although I'm inclined to leave it a bit on the rough side as this will give it a bit more of the weathered look. I originally thought that I had a spare cowl and was going to use that instead but as I couldn’t find it I was ‘forced’ into the repairs. andyh Posted October 18, 2021 Share Posted October 18, 2021 there is (allegedly) a *very* infrequent bug with ACCST 1.x (which your 2015 X4R will be on if you haven't updated the firmware in the last couple of years) causing "channel output error (uncontrolled servo movements) under certain conditions". I've been flying FrSky for ~8 years & I've never knowingly experienced it, but with my piloting, who knows? ? (sparse) details here: https://www.frsky-rc.com/important-firmware-update-accst-d16/ just be aware that you need to flash your RF module to ACCST 2.x too, which then won't work with any Rx's using ACCST 1.x the reason I asked about your X4R & SBUS is that I have a number of regular X4R's: that I'd quite like to get SBUS out of, & which I'm sure are only a solder bridge different from an X4R-SB, which does do SBUS: (apologies for taking your thread OT) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But, as I said before, I think that I’m going to have to accept that it was pilot error and it was a tip stall. Once I get it all finished I plan to recreate the scenario but a lot higher!
