Alan Gordon 5
Hi guys This is for anyone who has built a DB Sport and Scale Barnstormer 72. Just looking for an indication as to what the tip dihedral should be ? I propose keeping it simple by keeping it Rudder only. I suspect around 3.5 " but would like confirmation. J D 8
Don't think I would like to fly one rudder only, would only be suitable for very calm conditions and every landing would be just an arrival and not good for a model of this size. My Big Guff has an eight-foot wingpan and is a cinch to land. There's a guy over on RC Groups who has a formula for rudder only dihedral: one inch for every foot of half-span plus one inch. So for a 72" model, that's 3" + 1" = 4 inches dihedral.
Alan Gordon 5
Thanks David, I worked it out at 3.5 inches so 4" seems good to me. The model is designed for Rudder only so I think this will be OK
Andy Green
I built the DB short kit a few years ago, you can see a build blog here: https://www.andy-green.co.uk/barnstormer/ Sorry for the shameless plug... Andy
J D 8
Seen the pics, not the aircraft I was thinking of when I first replied.
kc
Alan, when you said " rudder only" did you mean without elevator control? Or just without ailerons.......
