Graham Davies 3
Morning all, Continuing on my journey into designing my own models, I'm currently moving on from my Swedish FVVS J-22 to another highly obscure subject: Kaproni Bulgarski KB-11 Fazan Operated by Bulgaria and Yugoslavia and fitting my remit "so obscure that no-one will know if I've got it right"... I need some weaponry. The original had a pair of 7.92mm Zbrojovka M-30 machine guns in the observer's bay behind the wing. They look a bit like Lewis guns without the ammunition canister in this picture: Would anyone with the skills and equipment be able to create a pair of these at 10th or 11th scale (my model is somewhere in between. It's 'in the style of' so we don't need to be too picky)? Even Lewis guns would do. Obviously, I will pay! I think the model needs them, or it will be somewhat lacking. Thank you Graham

Graham Davies 3
Good spot Denis. I'll keep this up my sleeve!
leccyflyer
They look a bit more like a Bren gun than a Lewis gun TBH,. One place to try would be one of the 3D wargaming model Facebook Groups - they are pretty good for stls of specific weapons. I can ask there, if you like? GrumpyGnome
Nice looking aircraft!
leccyflyer
I've asked. ? Looking at this image though, as you say, if you popped a pair of Lewis guns in there nobody would really know any difference -these ones seem to have the round magazines. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4324/36187675126_f5e63e51b0_b.jpg
Graham Davies 3
Thanks Leccyflyer, let's see what transpires There are various 'near enoughs' on Thingiverse. I might try to narrow it down later this evening. I agree though, my model is too small to stand close scrutiny in any case, but on a flypast it needs to have something poking out! Lewis guns would certainly give the effect I'm after. In any case, who's to know! Thanks also GG. It has some nice lines, but also the essential WW2 'functional' look. Whilst I've got nothing against a lewis guns per se, I think I will use a pair of guns. Given the semi-scale nature of the model, accommodating the mount may be a struggle too. However, we're on the right lines! I'll have a pick through the wonders of Thingiverse latter when I'm not (supposed to be) working. Graham Davies 3
Actually not bad Ron. The images of the aircraft are rather 'stylised' and show the sort of guns people are familiar with (Lewis), but the real thing had these: Yours are not far off, if you ignore the fiddly sticky out bits... How did you mount them to the model? Graham
Ron Gray
I could modify the design to give the rectangular breech, remove the pistol grip and have rear hand grips. Mine are stuck to a post that mounts in a socket in the cockpit floor, that way I can turn them round (why?).

PM me what I owe and we'll make it so. Thank you Graham
Simon Chaddock
I think this picture answers the question. The vz.30 in a twin aircraft mount with an air cooled barrel. Like the BREN the vz.30 was based on the earlier vz.
Ron Gray
@Graham Davies 3in case you’re wondering, I haven’t forgotten and have planned the work for Thursday.
Graham Davies 3
Thanks for the pics Simon; that's way clearer than I had found. Cheers Ron, much appreciated! Graham
Ron Gray
I've managed to produce a mini kit of parts! At 1/10th scale the gun measures 115mm from muzzle to back of breech. Parts need a bit of cleaning up which I'll do tomorrow.

Ron Gray
I may redo the ammo drums as they’re not quite right and I need to represent the straps on them too! Plus I may do the cocking levers as well. Edited November 26, 2021 by Ron Gray
Ron Gray
Well I've redone the ammo drums which should look OK after a bit more of a clean up and some black paint.
