Paul Turner 2
Hi All, As per the thread title, just wondering where is a good place to buy reasonably decent budget friendly Lipo packs either locally or abroad (and avoiding import charges if possible!) Many Thanks, Paul

Wookman
I have bought from Phoenixmp.com and HK.
RedBaron
I now buy LiPos only from 4-Max. Your parameter "Reasonably decent budget" is quite a complex matter. I check the internal resistance of all my LiPo cells several times a year. Even quite a small difference in resistance per cell is a prophecy of coming end of useful LiPo life. 4-Max LiPos have for me given a better consistency of IR than any other make. In addition from 4-Max one gets great service, prompt action and lots of good advice.
leccyflyer
Gliders UK has been my lipo supplier of choice for years - their G-Power packs are excellent. However their stock situation for the past year has been bad. As a result I've been trying HRB packs from Amazon and they are working out okay - well made packs, with some good deals and hassle free delivery. Philip Lewis 3
China Hobby Line have or are just opening their new warehouse in the UK, batteries is pretty much all they do, great batteries in my opinion and understated capacity as well. https://chinahobbyline.com/HomeFront/index
Steve Colman
I've been looking for some 5S lipos for some while now but it's almost impossible to find any available in the size/capacity I want. Both HK and CNHL have very limited stocks in their european warehouses and buying from other warehouses is just way too expensive.
SIMON CRAGG
Been using China Hobby Line for a few years. Purchased over 50 batteries. Never an issue.
David Ovenden
I have recently had very good service and prices from China Hobby Line. Lipos very good quality too.
Tim Hooper
I used Turnigy li-pos from HK for a number of years. Not bad, but prone to eventual puffing. I bought a consignment from 4-Max, last year. So far, so good. Tim
Shaun Walsh
I use Hobbyking Rhino batteries, no problems so far.
Adrian Smith 1
+? for 4-Max. Not the cheapest by any means, but have outlasted all my Turnigy lipos that became puffy with the same use. Still going strong and are very reliable.
Lima Hotel Foxtrot
Overlanders from my LAM Addlestone Model Centre. I've never had a problem with those batteries compared to the cheaper turnigy ones I got from hobbyking. 100% worth the money.
Maurice Dyer
I'm with Lima; Overlander from Wheelspin. Quality doesn't cost a lot more than budget, in the long term.

Paul Turner 2
Thanks for all of your recommendations ! I've opted for a nano-tech from HK. I need two and they are £70 each, my understanding is that I will get import charges if the total of the goods exceeds £135 as mentioned HERE so for now I've only ordered the one and will order another in a week or so ? ? Paul De Tourtoulon
My experiences with HK over the last 5 years haven't been so good? do you want a list ?,, I have gone back to buying from model shops, it has worked out cheaper in the end,,,
Cuban8
Never had an issue with any HK Lipos and TBH I suspect that many of the other brands of Lipos that are sourced from some domestic suppliers are similar items merely just badged up with a logo and hiked in price. Comfortingly expensive and all that. Certainly some packs are tested and selected from the mainstream production and then sold as higher performance items, but how much more superior they are versus the extra cost for the average sport flyer, I wouldn't like to say. BTW, have a look on catch up at a recent 'Dispatches' programme entitled The truth about electric cars.......some interesting stuff about the performance claims about EV batteries.
SIMON CRAGG
I recently purchase four lipos form CNHL as part of a club order to get free postage (over $159). I did some price comparisons: CNHL: £114 HK EU: £180 4 MAX: £302 As Cuban 8 says, they probably all come from the same place and are just re-badged. At least as good as Turnigy, no puffing up, and no import tax sillyness. Remember ASP /SC anybody?
Cuban8
Some interesting videos on YouTube of comparison tests between lipos brands if you care to look around. https://youtu.be/V_2VNe5I9Sw Quite an old video but still relevent. Paul De Tourtoulon
Yes 10 years old, the last HK battery's that I got were the yellow rhino ones 3s 2.650 mah, one (of 3 bought ) of them wouldn't even lift my Dji 450 off of the ground, all three now binned, the nanotecs in the video were better also binned the Gens ace that I got a couple of years ago are still going well,,,
David Ovenden
Worst Lipos I got were from BangGood. Supposed to be 35C but doubt they were even 10c. Wouldn't maintain voltage even under very low amp loads.
Jonathan M
It depends. For FW power using 3 or 4s, I always bought from 4-Max or Overlander. For very lightweight thermal soarers like DLGs and bungee-launched 2mRES, I've always used 1s Nanotechs from HK. For my latest foray into electric-launched thermal soarers using 3s batteries, I've gone for Overlanders from here and 3s Hackers from Germany. The key thing for me is that in all cases none of my LiPos have ever failed or become doddery - simply because I almost never run them below about 35% remaining capacity, and always return them to storage voltage after use (or if not used). So I think it's more a matter of care and good housekeeping really - which more than offsets the cost of buying relatively expensive ones in the first place.
Stuart Z
From Overlander direct for me. Always been good service.
