Chris Walby
I have a Laser 70 in mine and its just about right IMHO, and swapped a OS 40 out of a Nova for a Laser 65ish for a test run and it was very comparable so... A 53 will pull it around, but might be doing its nuts all of the time + depends on how heavy he Acrowot is. PS I don't have any experience of how powerful an Irvine 53 is compared with OS engines, but you could always give it a go and see, if its very reluctant to get itself in the air then it will struggle getting around he sky IMO. Jon H
an irvine 53 with an 11x6 or 7 would make it rather rapid i would suggest!
Nigel R
Pretty sure an Acrowot used to be known as a 40 class airframe! 53 will be more than enough, I'd have thought. I'd go 12x6. 1 hour ago, Chris Walby said: how powerful an Irvine 53 is compared with OS engines Good engines, equal to an AX55. Fairly comparable power to a 70 four stroke too. Andy Stephenson
I use a 12 x 6 on my Irvine 53, I think it would be under propped with anything smaller.
Jon H
i used to use 11x6 and 11x7 on ASP52's back when i ran 2s. I had one in a cap 232 and a pair in a ripmax harmony. It was no slouch with the dual 52's. 12x6 will be ok and will likely do better in the noise test
Martin Harris - Moderator
I've always regarded a 70 FS as the equivalent to a 46 two stroke so I'd have no hesitation in endorsing the 53 in an Acrowot. Just a thought - is this a traditional kit model with foam wings?
Diamond Geezer
Hi Martin Yes it is the foam wing model
Low pass Pete
Irvine 53 is not as powerful as an OS55 in my opinion. However would fly an Acrowot OK. Superb on an OS55 mind. Mine will climb out vertical no problem using a 13X6 prop on Contest 10 fuel. Edited December 16, 2021 by Low pass Pete

I've never had an Acrowot, it looks like a nice plane. I second the OS 55ax, its a great engine. I've one on my Calmato Sports 40.
