SIMON CRAGG
Anybody tried strapping a 12 blade 70mm 4s EDF (or similar) on the Hobbyking Bixler?. There are a few on You tube, one with twin 50mm running 4s. Could be fun with a few mods!.
Engine Doctor
Yes . A mate at our club did just that and elected me to fly it. He's done a few of these type of modelswith EDF power. I flew ok but was really quite quick. Be warned that the airframe needs stiffening as they distort when flown beyond their designed speed resulting in loss of control or flutter. Guess how I found out ?. Its been stiffened with carbon strip let in and now flys well and the 12 blade EDF sounds great. For best power fit induction ring and an efflux tube. SIMON CRAGG
Yet to test fly mine, but has carbon struts on both the wing and tailplane to stiffen them up. 17g metal gear servo on the elevator. No room for induction ducting, but has a short efflux ring at present. What could possibly go wrong!.
Engine Doctor
You also needyo syiffen the fuselage between wing and tale plane. That was the main problem with the on I flew . The fuz would bend cancelling out any elevator ! Good luck and enjoy the sound.

Just waiting for some additional 5mm carbon for the wings. Should be fun!.
