Hi Simon,

Peanut size model is defined as having either a maximum wingspan of 13” inches, or a maximum fuselage length of 9” inches.

These sizes are recognised by the Federation International Aeronautique (FIA), which is the international governing body of model aeroplane competition.

As Autogyro does not have wings I am going with the fuselage length. ?

Steve

Does the "or" mean I could build a Peanut scale ANT 25 with a fuselage length of 9"?

It would have a span of 23.5".

I think the answer lies in the word 'maximum' on both dimensions.

By the same token I doubt a rotor of more than 13" diameter would be considered 'competition' acceptable.

Even do a 13" rotor would give a lot of effective area. ?

And it will not be rubber powered and I will not be entering it in any competition.

Rather scale and peanut size.

It was simple the best way I could describe its size is all.

It does not mention rotor diameter and as each blade takes it in turn to generate lift you could argue its only the radius that counts. ?

Ok a little update.

I have soaked 2 stripes 0f 1/16th Balsa in water and put them in a make shift foam former to dry which may take some time in are cold weather also foam and plastic sheeting will hold onto the water a little longer.

When dry I will use them to form the top part of the body.

Nice work Steve, did you get the profile version  flying?

Not as yet,

I could not get it to track straight on the gym hall so resorted to a hand launch it looped and landed on the ground before I could get both my hands on the controls.

No damage at all ?

So it will work, but I need to get it to track on the ground and reduce the lift from the blades. I need a proper trimming session with it.

Cheers Steve
