Andy Gates
It certainly does look that way, kind of a Bacofoil look too. It is some stuff I got from RapidRC if I remember correctly. My first time using it, glue seems very tough to cut through but seems to be going on quite nicely but it does show any creases.
Manish Chandrayan
Do let us know in case you recall what exact product that is. Seems I could order a roll or two for what I have in mind

Andy Gates
Pretty sure that is what I got, I have ordered some more as I may be a little short. Was expecting it's arrival today but it has not got here yet. I don't think it is HK stuff as the glue is definitely different. Off the roll it is slightly translucent but once on balsa or double thickness over open structures it looks pretty solid. It can be seen through with a very bright light. Andy Gates
Bit more of the Bacofoil look for you. Both wings covered awaiting the ailerons.
Andy Gates
Still progressing slowly.
kc
That's actually pretty fast progress by my standards! Looking very promising - especially if it only weighs about 5 pounds or so when completed.
Andy Gates
I may just have hit a hurdle. Royal Mail seem to have lost a parcel containing more of the silver film I need to complete covering this machine. Allegedly delivered on the 4th April and signed for by neither me or my wife but by a casual RM worker it seems. Complaint has been launched but I don't expect too much from that but I will give it its 72hrs. The gentleman at RapidRC was great on the phone but his hands are tied and he has no more of this film in stock. He could only offer a refund but to be quite honest I would rather have the film. I will wait for RM to come to a conclusion before I follow up on the refund as I don't want to take money away from his business. I am going to measure what I have left but I suspect that the anticipated maiden over the long weekend is now off. Not happy at all.? Andy Gates
Just spotted RapidRC have stock of this film but a bigger quantity so I have ordered that on next day delivery which should be here Thursday. Fingers crosssed!
kc
I hope you get the covering OK, and look forward to seeing the model fly. Perhaps a search of the garden, hedges, wheely bins etc and neighbours gardens might produce the first package!
Andy Gates
Crossing my fingers has not helped. Covering has once again not turned up courtesy of RM, special delivery should have been here by 13.00 today - nothing! So no chance what so ever of this machine being maidened this weekend. Wings are now fully covered Edited April 14, 2022 by Andy Gates
Trevor
When Royal Mail finally get around to clearing their backlog, you're going to have enough covering for another model or two Andy! Happy Easter.
Andy Gates
That means I will have to build some more planes Trevor, such strife eh? Hopefully got some plans coming for Chris Foss's CentiPhase and Hi-Phase. I still have Ivan's Lancaster to do too, so much to do in so little time. Finish the Magister first of course, could really do without the hold up.
Andy Gates
Special delivery turned up today while I was out flying so at least I have sufficient film to finish covering the Magister. With 2 days of training on the cards, it means there will be little time to get much done over the long weekend. Next week I am going to be very busy so hopefully it will be ready for maiden next weekend.
Andy Gates
Tail covered but I have some how managed to scratch the film. It will have to stay as it is as I have no intention of stripping it off and re-doing it. It is going to be used for training so I guess it will get bashed about a bit anyway. Don Fry
Andy, no one in the history of the sport has ever looked at the tail. As a fairly good deception artist, I assure you that is true.
Andy Gates
Thanks for that Don. Made me laugh. I though most blokes looked at tail?
Keith Billinge
Maybe a sock on your covering iron would do the trick? I know a few pwople who go to the kids clothing section in the supermarket and just buy a pack of white socks that fit nicely on a covering iron. Andy Gates
Nice idea Keith, way ahead of you. I have just worn through my second sock! I may need a replacement iron, perhaps the sole is a bit rough. The teflon coating has certainly been worn away. Mind you it is 20 years old. Andy Gates
Covering the airframe should be completed by tomorrow with just insignia and markings to be added later on.
