David Ashby - Moderator
Probably daft question time but I'm hooking up a v-tail on a glider and (you know how it is) I've loads of these 'barrel-type/cylinder horns' but none that fit the 2mm threaded shafts on the v-tail. In searching for some new ones I'm struggling to find them at retailers and wondered if I'm putting the right words in the search box? Steve Colman
David, I think they're called "torque rod control horns".
Denis Watkins
Search around RC model adjustable aileron servo horns David
Nick Cripps
I'm not sure they are available separately, David, they are usually supplied as part of an aileron torque arm set. An alternative would be to use a 2mm ball link held in place with a nut either side. That would probably be better anyway, as it would take up any angular movement as the control arm moves through its arc.
Jon H
Radio active make them. Part no F-RCA136 https://www.rapidrcmodels.com/aileron-horn-12g-single-hole-pk4-f-rca136-7499-p.asp They are readily available and hopefully fit your threaded rod! David Ashby - Moderator
Thanks guys, as you say Nick they're pretty difficult to find separately. Fab, thanks Jon, I'll give Justin at Rapid a call. I'll go for ball links if they don't fit. ?
Max Z
Hi David, These are often referred to as (strip) aileron connectors. SIG has a "mini strip aileron set" for 2-56 thread, is that near enough? LINK Max.
Simon Clark
I think that they are available in diferent sizes but here are a couple of alternatives: https://www.rcworld.co.uk/acatalog/Radio-Active-Horn-Only--14SWG-Rod---Pk4--F-RCA135.html#SID=58 https://www.rcworld.co.uk/acatalog/Aileron-Horn-12G-5-holes-pk4-F-RCA144.html#SID=58 Simon
