Thread: Stripped thread bodge
13/07/2018 11:53:17

I have had good results with J B Weld (original cold weld). steel epoxy.

So long as the metal is absolutely clean it sticks like snot to a horsehair blanket - and is hard and good for 300c.

Seems that it may now prove difficult to obtain which is a shame sad

If you can find some grab it - it is good.

Thread: Take off into wind ?
08/06/2018 19:10:47

Our patch is a circle so no problem with wind direction you would think. Fine if someone with common sense sets up first at 90', everyone follows thumbs up However if those lacking C S get set up first because its next to the path, getting them to shift another 60m round falls on the same ears as reminding them not to reach through the prop when connecting a battery while its sat on their lap angry

Looking good Timo thumbs up

I use to make my 1/12th combat's from blue foam covered in brown paper, quick, cheap, disposable but no where near as pretty.

Watch out if buying from the global warehouse as anything over £15 will attract import duty and hostage collection fee from the carrier.sad

just looked and the Kinetic is out of stock in GB & EU warehouses.

Like Martin I think its the RHS on a small capacity Laser. The LHS looks to be 180' out between exhaust/intake.

Thread: Radio systems

+1 for BEB's sound reasoned advice yes

I started with a Futaba FF9 on 35Mhz and had a few glitches so switched to JR using DSM2 the early Spektrum protocol, which proved to be glitch free. I then purchased one of the last DX9's with dual DMS2 & DSMX. I personally have had absolutely no radio issues at all and it does everything I need and more reliably. Excluding dumb fingers & dodgy switches but hey that effects every make wink

One other major potential issue not mentioned so far that effects all makes concerns extension leads not securely fastened together, working loose or leads not pushed into receivers or making poor intermittent contact over time. I always use 100mm fly leads to help prevent this potential intermittent issue with thread, tape or plastic locks. Would appear in the air as a radio issue. Not saying it was but I genuinely don't believe their are any inherently bad major systems out their today.

Thread: PU Glue removal
08/05/2018 15:34:55

Thanks David, I thought the dark grubbyness was due to it attracting muck, however looking around there is some evidence of iron darkening PU type glues - you live an learn.

Resorted to using one of the foam emery sponges which shifted some - but not all. Guess I will just have to let nature run its course for the remainder.

08/05/2018 14:41:55

Thanks both, but the black grubby mark the diameter of a golfball is refusing to budge. sad

I guess the grease from the skin will eventually lift it but would dearly love a faster solution.

08/05/2018 11:33:30

I love PU glue and am normally very careful not to get any on my hands.

You know whats coming next - yes my latex glove sprung a leak and now I have some on my palm crying

Tried thinners, nail varnish remover & Isopropanol with no result - So what will shift it please ????

Thread: Laser Engines - Technical questions
24/04/2018 10:31:47

Apart from UK and some of the colonies, I suspect the rest of the world uses Gasoline and even us Brits recognize the phrase, where as the Yanks/others probably wouldn't automatically recognize Petrol. Heart says P but head leans towards G. You may also wish to distinguish between 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines with FS.
