Thread: battery pack failures
24/06/2017 05:25:35

I have two Eneloop nimh 5 cell packs that were 12 months old fail in my models today, yet i have three hobby king versions that were sitting for 2 years and are fine.

angry is less than the feeling as eneloop are very expensive in comparison to hobby king version.

Thread: Construction & repair tools

Well I am sick of it! I have many tools that i need to do odd jobs from metal taps to balsa bashing but the most I have used is sharps=knives, saws and other shaving blades following clamps and always seem to be short a clamp or two, T pins, Metal rules, sanders from paddle pop sticks with paper grits glued on up to larger blocks and rounds.

my work is slow and sloppy too, I have a 6 or seven year on off relationship with my models for some reason. I certainly can't blame my tools though.

Thread: 'Drones' at he America's Cup
20/06/2017 07:33:01

The Cyclors stunned me. In my part of the world the Kiwis get Aussie status when we have no hope of getting a mention The New Zealstralian team winning the cup.

When Australia II won the Americas Cup in 1983 through Ben Lexcen's winged keel and Alan Bonds borrowed money Our Aussie Prime Minister declared 'Any boss that sacks a worker for not turning up today is a Bum.'

Geoff I am not a sailing man but although the Sydney to Hobart gets good coverage each year it is sad to see that there isnt more shown on free to air tv.

Donald .can i ask why you assume i don't fly? is it because i'm female? is that not a bit (read very) sexist? like many others i've had my fill of failures on Spektrum and now use Jeti. I am a bit annoyed about what you said.

Please don't draw the sex card. we all fly and try to go home with our models intact.

Thank you very much Mark. I had given up with my failed posting. Your extra information regarding the event definately adds to the reality of the situation.

Thread: How many plan-built models have you made or started in the last year?
25/04/2017 11:24:11
Posted by Cuban8 on 25/04/2017 10:03:48:

Suggestion for another poll allied to our existing one.

How many models do you have under construction at a time?

Personally, I have a rule that I only try to work on one project at a time as I find it all too easy to lose focus when jumping from one to the other. Doesn't always work out that way, of course, so often I find myself with two builds on the go, especially where you might hit trouble with one and it's best just to give it a rest for a while. Don't know how others manage to work on half a dozen models at a time (certainly not complex plans or kits) it would drive me mad.

Too many Red faces for me to answer that question...........5 under some stage of construction and some sitting for around dust covered 5 years too.

one plan build in progress, and a kit build resumed.

BEB is on the cusp with his comment. Good honest truth too. we responsible guys and gals will feel the heat for a little while but more stringent laws will eventually come into place. whether that is comprehensive ID as if you are buying a mobile phone or stricter then so be it, as long as it is not an extra cost to us long registered and qualified fliers within a club then i am ok with novices paying extra and being told to join a club first.

aim your drones at me now if you like but big brother will know who or whom you are. Brought to you by H.G>Wells.

Another angle could be the cause of decline.
O,H and S
the glues, the balsa dust, the tools used for the build, the engines and motors, the fuels and oils, the plastic packaging, the forgotten spousal partners.
all dangers to our survival, all could kill us at any minute.
Glad i am a risk taker and will mosey on regardless.
