Thread: Model Shop Leeds (Good Show)
07/08/2013 19:15:24

I have used model shop Leeds a number of times on Ebay and have never had any problems, in fact i ordered a retract servo from them last month and it took only18hrs to arrive which in this day and age is superb.

I've had a few SC engines and one thing to look out for is a wobbley main needle which is caused by rubbish o rings being fitted to the main needle. They do indeed need the main needle screwed in a fair way something like 3/4 to 1 turn out will normaly get them running. Currently flying a Wot 4 with an SC 52 up front with no problems at present seems to be a good one but you do get what you pay for.

Well i think it was the best show of the year so far, as for the gripes well you can't please everyone so perhaps they should step up to the mark and have a go themselves and see if they can do any better.

Just got back from Cosford and i must say what a great show it was. Good trade presence and very well laid out other shows could learn from this one. Hats off to LMA i will be going again next year and i feel sorry for the guy who crashed the large Hercules.

Been flying my PC 9 for a couple of months now and it is a fine aircraft, however the tank has been a mino prob. I find hat fuel drips from he carb while it is on the stand and sometimes the engine can flood and lock up during starting. These are not major issues and I would say to anyone thinking of buying this model to do so, it is a gem.

Hi Ray. Mine does the same but i've found that when refuelling by hand pump crank it slowly and stop pumping when you see the first drop of fuel drip from the carb. As you say they are a good model, fly's really well and looks the part aswell.

I use Weston's liquid gold 5% 4 gallons delivered to your door for £50. And yes i don't know whats in it but it good stuff i've run all my engines on it 2 and 4 stroke with no problems at all not even a dead stick since changing over.

Thread: Is the Wot 4 a suitable trainer?
11/07/2013 21:06:26

Its funny that when ever i go flying i always fly my Wot 4 first before i fly any of my other aircraft. I think its just a really good aircraft to get your eye in on before flying my larger more expensive models.

Thread: Pilot extra 260 74"

Hi all. Just bought one off ebay complete with a DLE 30 installed and servo's.Already have a 72" Sbach powered by a JC 28 just wondering about the C of G on the extra. Anybody else fly one?.

Spent the afternoon giving the 260 the once over and found the engine to be a DLA 32 not a DLE 30. Not much in them .1 of a hp if you believe the specs, also no remote kill unit fitted either so thats on the shopping list before i fly it.

Took the sbach out for a few flights last night had great fun doing some high g aero's. Had the servo arm for the left elevator come off on the last flight but made one of the smoothest landings ever. Packing up, taking the wings off and noticed i had bent the wing tube!. Carbon copy replacement on order.

Your plan for having a break from it will do no harm. I did the same a while ago after in had destroyed my Wot 4 and Acro wot in the space of a fournight. Came back refreshed and ready to have another go and haven't looked back since and remember its only a hobbie so don't get stressed about it.

Thread: weston park model air show 14/15/16 June 2013

As i said in my previous post it was advertised as a 3 day event and in my view it was not. I paid the £11 on the gate and expected a good show, the flying was great but the rest of it was a disapointment. In my view Long Marston was far better.

Well I went today and was extremely disapointed. Drove 60 miles, paid £11 to get in only to find that most of the traders were not trading! None of the big names were open in the morning then gradually a few started to open in the afternoon. Some didn't open at all today - I won't mention names but a complete farse on the sales front.

I do wonder at how something as big as this can be so badly organised - I asked some traders why they wern't open and got varioius replies - some were just setting up today. I tried to ask the organisers but got no answer there.

The so called swap meet is only Sat and Sunday - why did it not say this on the website which I checked last night?

Very miffed.

Have a good show to all those not stupid enough to go today like me!!!!

I second that, it was advertised as a three day event so i expected 3 full trade days and i had a wod of cash to spend but didn't because most traders were not trading their loss the internets gain The flying was good thou.

Thread: it dont fly well

I maidened my Slipstream Sbach on Monday. The model was secondhand and fitted with a JC28 petrol engine. I set up the C of G 130mm back from the leading edge right on the wing tube and it didn't fly to bad seemed slightly tail heavy. Will be moving batteries further forward and trying again once the weather improves.

Thread: Carbon copy
12/06/2013 17:45:10

Hi all. Just took delivery of new landing gear for my Sbach 30cc. The old gear is made of alloy but it may well be rubber as it bends quite badly unless every landing is a greaser. The new carbon copy gear looks good and has a small amount of flex in it so hopefully it will stop the prop hitting the ground on those not so good landings. Carbons service has been first class as i only ordered on Monday and the gear arrived today.thumbs up
