Thread: Loss of control
01/04/2013 14:54:36

Hi all.

Out flying with the Acro wot yesterday having great fun when the following happened. Had three good flights no problems then on the fourth on take off the engine cought so no problem we have loads of room at our field so with wings level just landed down the strip. The engine was still running so i thought i would walk down and taxi the aircraft back to the pits when i was about 50ft away the engine went to full power and full up elevator and the Acro reared up and crashed near the edge of the strip and i had no control at all.I'm using a Spectrum DX6i and AR6210 rx. Failsafe is set to idle and all batteries charged that morning and the radio range checked. Back home all batteries checked out ok and the radio worked without fault so i'm at a loss as to what happened.

I've just got myself a Hanger 9 Katana 50 size and i'm wondering how to power it. All my current aircraft are ic powered and i have a spare sc 91 fs to fit in it would this engine be ok ?. If i go down the lecy route it would mean great expence buying motor, esc, batteries etc but would lecy be better as i'll only be doing mild 3d and aero's.

Your thoughts gents please.

Hi all.

I did a bit of work on 603 a number of years ago. I was crew chief on XM 655 at wellesbourne for about ten years and worked on the aircraft for about 16 years. We took the two zero houred Olympus 301 engines out of 603 as spares for 655 as they were the only zero houred 301's on the planet. Still makes me smile thinking about when we used to run engines we could only take two up to full power at a time in case the aircraft jumped the chocks and of course the fuel bills each engine would burn 4 to 5 gallons a second on full power. Just moved onto the Shackleton and Nimrod at Coventry airport hope to taxi the Shack soon and put a bit of life back into the Nimrod as well

Took the Acro Wot out for some fun today. Since i added 60g of weight to the front it fly's like its on rails great stuff on a bum note smashed the Wot 4 up a bit today ripped off the wheels and the bottom of the fuselage due to a very heavy landing.

Thread: Main needle O ring
20/02/2013 19:51:59

Hi E.D

Thanks for the advice the o rings i bought were from Just engines and for the ASP.46. When fitted to the needle it was impossible to screw the needle back down into its housing without damaging the o ring as its O D was too big for the needle housing. I have now used the fuel line as you described and ran the engine and so far touch wood it seems ok.

Hi guys.

I'm after some main needle O rings for a SC46.

My current needle wobbles in the needle body even though the engine has only run for about two hours and its leaking fuel from the main needle when running. I have tried some O rings from a ASP carb they do not seem to fit.Any ideas most welcome.

Taking mine for its maiden flight tomorrow can't wait.

Well the Acro flew ok even with a 10mph cross wind. I think i do need to add a bit of weight to the front as the c of g was very neutral but apart from that all was ok.

i did fit the SC .61 to it in the end just waiting for the weather to improve before i give it its maiden flight.

Put the Acro on the CofG machine and its bang on 83mm from the leading edge just as the manual states good job i fited the .61 no weight needed.

Thread: ASP46 2-stroke - a couple of questions on what I should do
28/01/2013 16:24:04

So far i have bought my SC engines from Kings Lynn modelshop, a 46 and a 52 they were £55 each and i had a great service from the guys there. The 52 is a peach of an engine pulls my Acro wot along very well indeed.

Thread: New SC46 - Running issue
27/01/2013 16:09:28

I've recently run in a sc46 and sc52 and had to richen the low end needle on both to get them to idle and pick up from low revs. Only turn the needle a 1/32 of a turn at a time though. Both now running very well, the 46 in my Wot 4 and the 52 in my Acro Wot.
