This is my variant. Left uncovered at rear of fuselage and made RAF-ish. Now over 30 years old and still flying occasionally with its original Saito 45 FS.

Yes, I am In the UK. Doesn’t make any difference to me, thanks.

Also received mine. Has the magazine name changed?

Mine is titled “R/C Model Aeroplane” but all references etc inside are still RCM&E.

Saw these were back in last week, bought 4 for the grandkids. Took them to the local playing fields, had an absolute blast and they have been flying them ever since.

Having no "new" planes recently, I have a few that fit in here.

Black Magic and Magnatilla, both around 30 years old.

Powerplanes International Cessna 40, built and flown by myself around 28 years ago, sold soon after (in those days I could only afford one or two planes at a time) found on Gumtree and bought back last year. Put engine and RX battery in and is flying again.

It's like everything else these days, "wire less".

Thread: Phoenix Flight Sim
30/05/2018 16:23:28

As far as I can recall, you can go to the Phoenix Flight Sim website and freely download the programs. They will load and run until it looks for the transmitter. This is where you have to have the Phoenix lead. I am using a version 3 of Phoenix which has always updated no problem, so the lead is still the same for all versions.

A family discussion a few months ago led us to dig out our old vinyl collection. We had loads from the 60s and 70s, but nothing to play them on anymore. A look on local Gumtree found this lovely 1974 Dynatron unit, one owner from new. So here it is alongside our modern Bose, the best of both worlds!!

Sitting having a coffee and mince pie and suddenly realised I was looking at my next years supply of "glue mixing pots". Cut them into strips for neater storage. Happy Christmas everyone!

This is my Majestic Major, powered by a Laser 61. I acquired this a few years ago from a local modeller who sadly cannot enjoy the hobby due to ill health. It was built around 20 years ago but had never flown until 3 years ago. Absolute gem to hear running and see flying.

Not much chance of outdoor flying for a few days here in Northern Ireland. Good job we have one of our local indoor sessions tomorrow.

This is my way of getting 3 position flaps and switch position sounds. Also shown is my motor disarm switch. There are lots of different was to achieve the required result in Opentx.

I tried using the receiver failsafe button to set with throttle at minimum, but the motor still ran up to half speed when failsafe was tested. I found if you are using D16 mode you have the option to choose your type and settings for failsafe, as per my photos (can't see how to rotate them!).

17/09/2017 22:12:04

Having used several Fr-Sky "hack" modules in Fleet and Sanwa transmitters I obtained a Taranis X9D+. Spent some time getting my head round it, or so I thought! Set up a motor glider with switch sounds, throttle cut etc, felt really chuffed when it all worked ok. Decided to check the fail-safe, re-bound with everything where I wanted it, tested all and switched off the transmitter. At this point the motor started at mid speed (prop was off, phew). Re-checked all but could not stop it happening. Back to You-tube, 2 hours later found out that you have to set where your failsafe positions on the transmitter and that because in Opentx "low" throttle is -100 and "full" is +100 when the receiver goes to failsafe the throttle goes to an output of 0, so half throttle!!! Love the flexibility of Taranis and Opentx, but you have to be careful and double check everything.

When you are in the model list page, hold down "enter" button for 2 seconds and a list of options will appear, including delete.

Great days flying at our club fly-in. Weather good for most of the day, even though we are only a few miles from the Causeway Coast in the north of Northern Ireland.
