Page 51 ..continued competency for examiners.

The initial phase of continued competency for Club Examiners. Phase 1 will involve the issue of attendance certificates for examiners who attend AS events such as roadshows or workshops. O.K..I've attended workshops.

What does this mean to those who don't attend, if anything ? anyone know ?

Can someone tell me if the questionnaire being sent out to club examiners, that was mentioned in a previous issue has been shelved or not ?

Bomber aircraft, killed many civilians the world over, what's your thoughts on replicating those ? Opens up lots of avenues discussions like these, not complaining, just asking.

I think David nailed it with his statement that it's a symbol inextricably linked to one man in particular.

Did you?

I love Monty Python.

Perhaps the continuing discussion highlights why displaying emblems such as the Swastika has many merits.

The merits are, that it encourages debate, rather than shutting debate down. When you are not allowed to question, the most outrageous claims can and are made. Discussion probably does not resolve issues in black and white terms, although a better understanding can develop.

A similar moral issue is should we model war planes or stick to civilian aircraft?

Yep, I agree, not trying to shut anything down, just interested how people see it.

I never implied they where a symbol of any kind, other than what they're used for, seems a fair enough question in the context of this thread.

I don't follow you ? I asked about modeling bombers, the Stuka for one has a powerful effect on T.V. and not all bombers where German.

Thread: New Drone/Aerodrome Regulations - Is your club at risk?

Silence is deafening on this I see, had it been an M/R we would be on page 20 by now, BMFA would be being lambasted for not distancing us from "them".

How Germany deals with it is for them to decide, we have films and documentary showing the symbol, it's far from erased from history. Being used on a model wouldn't offend me, certain others that use it would.

Rather ironic that after all the who-ha on forums about quads being the end of aeromodelling as we know it one of the first convictions is for a fixed wing aeroplane that is unlikely to stray more than a hundred yards from its pilot.

Couldn't have put it better myself, cue the outrage ?

Thread: In your late 60s or early 70s?

The whole TV licencing issue is absurd. My mother-in-law who is 85 and has a good disposable income gets it free, I have younger friends who more or less live hand to mouth, that have to pay up, I know others who have never paid a penny - that's one issue.

We've discussed this before and quite why the BBC is still operating under an archaic system that may have been OK in the last century, beggars belief. Once the current issue occupying parliament is decided one way or the other, then perhaps the BBC and the way it is funded and governed (the charter) will be looked at. Fund them from general taxation and turn BBC1 into a fully commercial channel for starters.
