Thread: 2018 Mass Build - Voting Thread

My stipulation for having a crack, not a twin, couldn’t handle that, and engines what are they. Motors rule. Just saying.

I don’t mind what it is, within the above constraints. I’ll leave it to you guys. If I like it I’ll do io it.

20 people, not overwhelmingl is it. Ah well, soon be Christmas.

Thread: 8 in 1 tool

You know Geoff, that’s just what I was concerned about, the jack of all trades thing. That’s why I was hoping to hear fro someone who has been using it, before taking the plunge.

Has anyone any experience of one of these. Looks very useful.

I reckon you could build more models than you could shake a stick at, and they will still be going strong.

The spare abrasive strip has arrived. First of all, unexpectedly it is flexible. It also has a self adhesive backing, so should not present any fitting problems. Not done it as yet. Think I will try to bend the old one, once removed, around a curved piece of wood, thus making a fairly large diameter sanding tool.

Let you know when I know, Bob.

Many people on here, and elsewhere, extol Permagrit tools. Not without reason.

I had a problem with the abrasive plate lifting in one corner, so sent the following email, via their website,

The fine grit surface on my SANDING BLOCK WEDGE 140mm x 51mm Is starting to lift at one corner. Is it possible for me to obtain a replacement grit surface, and to be able to glue it onto the holder. After removal of the old abrasive of course.

I received this in reply this morning:

We are sorry to hear you have a problem with the sanding block. We will
send you a replacement sheet with fitting instructions free of charge.

Service is as good as their tools it would seem. Thankyou Permagrit.

Hi Jason,

I have always used plaster board. I buy the smallest sheet cut it t size with a Stanley knife, for a perfect fit to my desk top. Easy. But you must seal the cut edges with masking tape, otherwise plaster will deposit itself all over your dining room. You could then be in some bother with the boss!

Inspiring reading all of this! I trust all these misfortunes occurred when you were newbies, or very young, and so could not possibly happen now that you are all so much older and wiser eh!

Thread: A scam abusing Dyson cleaner owners
23/10/2017 12:14:39

Good tip. Thanks.

If I remember correctly when a call is made to Dyson direct, after you give them a few basic details, the know exactly which of their products you own. Also Dyson have never rang me in 10 years, or so.

Thank you Dennis. I’ll do it that way.

Im attempting my first covering using two colours on a wing (top and bottom)

Where is the correct place for the joint on the wing leading edge? I.e. halfway down, or out of sight underneath etc.

Cheers.
