Thread: Li`l Cub

I have started on one also. Just have the fuselage sides made and am fitting the doweling to them now. I have gone with hardwood dowels as I couldn't find any balsa ones here. I will be using electric power for mine.

When I bought the optional float kit for my electric powered Sport Cub it came with a new prop.

It looks like you're planing on inserting the battery from the rear of the cabin. I'm just getting ready to cut my formers out, but I think I will start on the wing instead until I see what you end up with.

Also are you going to add the motor 3D files to your link? It looks like something that I would like to put onto the front of my Li'L Cub.

Thanks for the link to the Piper Cub, I'm starting on Peters' Li'L Cub and this made for interesting viewing.

Dwain, any friend with a vinyl cutter could cut those for your tail fin.

Ah yes - it's a thing of beauty Duain, I'm very impressed with the whole build

Your plane is looking good Dwain, but if it's not too late your control yokes should both be pointing in the same direction I think.

Tim - are you building your version to the plans at just under 1:6 scale? And are you going to make all your 3D parts available to us? I am getting ready to build one also and am following your progress. I have been following the pictures on your album, very nice work so far.

Great looking build D.D. - I've always liked the 120/140 Cessnas.  Glad the screen worked out so well for you.

The wing tip on my Wiggo build didn't turn out to well until I added a small tapered rib near the leading edge. There was already one near the trailing edge. I wouldn't hesitate to add an extra rib or two.

This is how it initially looked:

Then I added an extra rib

It looks much better now

Thread: Help with printing on home printer

Consider loading the plan onto a memory stick and taking to a print shop.

This would be my preferred option and to use my home printer for specific parts of the plan that I need to cut up.

Yes, and if you do want to print specific areas at any scale use the "Take a snapshot" function in the "edit" pulldown

Still too much snow on the field here!

14/03/2019 14:54:41

Once I marked out the proper Cof G according to the plans I was able to balance the plane with a 1800 battery placed fairly far back. It looks like my airflow wont be as restricted as I thought. I just have to finish tidying up my wiring and I'll be finished.

13/03/2019 13:20:09

Yes - I'm also quite concerned, my 2200 battery is 25mm x 35mm frontal area and will pretty much block the air intake opening.

12/03/2019 12:24:06

There is hope for me then as my AUW with the 2200 will be 21.68 oz. I need to install the 2200 as far forward as possible to achieve the C of G on the drawing. It looks like I should have planed off more balsa at the rear of the plane.

I installed the FMS 3s in my Sabre and my preliminary testing agreed with the 600g thrust, I got 559 grams with 10.4 Volts in my battery,

dscn2912.jpg

I'm not sure how easy it will be to launch though as it weighs 15.37 oz with everything installed except the battery and my batteries weight:

1300 is 3.67 oz

1800 is 4.90 oz

2200 is 6.31 oz

I won't be able to fly it for a while as we still have about 2 feet of snow on the field.
