Thread: all good things eventually come to an end !
25/02/2020 09:57:37

It is with teary eyes I write this hearing the news. Rolls Royce Ansty Model flying club has been a big part in my life, from the age of 6 in 1978 being taken by the old fella to get me out from under mums feet. I was taught to fly and was teaching new members at the age of 10. It was there I learnt to drive a car around the field, I will never forget at the age of 12 being given the keys to an Astra GTE in White to drive it around the field.. my head nearly exploded!!. The site has changed greatly over time, but my memories are more of those members who have passed through over the years.. many of whom are sadly no longer with us.. Great characters and so many stories to tell. Life goes on, and the crazy gang will continue..

Thread: Jammed OS engines

Put prop on, heat with heat gun, then work it. When it moves then lubricate and continue to gradually work it

Thread: Poorly OS40 repair
17/02/2020 09:58:30

do it, good guy on you tub e David Mcintyre in the states does similar, tear downs, reassembly, plus engine runs.. you could get a few tips by watching some of his stuff..

Thread: Boddington Mannock Biplane Build Part 3
05/02/2020 13:52:39

I think it is important to recognise what has been said and indeed the era it is from. The high lift section and dihedral with anything other than marginal power causes the mannock to climb like a ding bat. I had throttle and ele mixing in mine.. and yes rudder is needed to make nice turns... looks nice but not my favourite flyer.. but knife edged quite well smile p.. passed on to a club mate who just wants to stooge about, which it should be ideal for..

Thread: Poor Solartex Application
03/02/2020 20:43:17

Are you sure you didn’t get your rolls of solartex and duct tape mixed up??.. embarrassed.. sorry mate, couldn’t resist..

Thread: Binding ikonnic red to aurora 9
29/01/2020 20:03:01

Put your tx into blue flashing as opposed to red, same as when binding a minima rx.. try that.. hold down button on back of tx module for 5 sec then release if I remember

Thread: engine refurb

I have used cheap washing powder but it had to be biological.. I found warm water best. Only had one go dark grey and I think it was a combination of the powder and using boiling water.. I've done many engines and exhausts with biological and it works well almost all of the time. Tend to leave them in for 30mins-1hr and then use an old tooth brush.. then rinse, and place in a warm over to dry quickly..

Thread: Do you love some of your engines so much you don't fly them?
17/01/2020 15:28:40

say what?????.. a thousand??... Just Engines probably never had that many.. you've probably got a couple of grands worth of glow plugs!!.. good on ya Paul.. a RC Glow engine 'Prepper'.. love it... bet you get unindated with "have you got a carb for an enya x, or a silencer for an OS Y, or a needle for a Thunder Tiger Z!!!!..

Thread: Hitec 81
10/01/2020 15:21:05

Sadly I echo what has already been said, and I have confined HS81's to the throttle if at all, and agree that the corona are far better. There will be plenty of people with good HS81's, but especially over the last few years, I have had issues with HS82MG's (poor centering) and HS5245MG's (also poor centering)... and only the HS85MG's seems to be of the expected standard in the midi hitec range, especially bad when the so called budget brands have upped their game. I personally wouldnt try and repair it for what it would cost for a decent corona.

Great job with that. I have seen a radial cox somewhere, now that would be worth some electron treatment!!.

Thread: A new caption competition - winner declared!

The CAA’s answer to the terminator demonstrates his method of law enforcement.. “if they don’t pay 9 quid, I just grab um like this you see!”

Thread: LIPO Battery Duration Query
29/10/2019 10:40:37

just reading again, and your comment makes me think that it is an easy street 2??.. if so, plenty of room to increase capacity, but gangster's and my comment of getting a watt meter still stands..

28/10/2019 22:50:47

Personally, I’d experiment with props and a watt meter before I look at batteries. Big differences between sizes and different make of same size on amps drawn, which equals time in the air

Thread: Suggestions for sport planes for an OS 25 FX engine
10/10/2019 21:31:35

Go new era, the fx will be a lot for the little capiche, and battery might need to go in the tail. I suspect the new era will have lower wing loading

09/10/2019 21:08:31

New Era is a great shout. I built an original hots for my 25 FX and it’s great. There’s a photo on here somewhere. It’s under a thread called “getting the hots”

Thread: Hitec Aurora 9 Scan mode
08/10/2019 21:26:03

That’s what I said dont know

08/10/2019 11:36:54

I think you mean, you have skipped between the Optima and minima type receivers, blue or red flashing light on the back... normally when you push the little button in with a pen and let go, it starts to blink red, or IF YOU HOLD IT IN FOR 5 secs.. it changes to blinking BLUE. Do it again and hold in for 5 sec then it usually blinks back to RED again.

Hope it helps, and hope it is the problem

Thread: Which Servo Sould I Use?
13/07/2019 22:46:02

Agree, 81’s are confined to throttle for me, strip too easy. I’ve had a few 82’s with iffy centering, 85’s are much better and 225’s are fine also
