I have a lot of sympathy with delivery people.

Some of the large carriers employ them on zero hour contracts and even make them pay for the decals on their vans.

They have to do a lot of deliveries to make a living.

If I make an internet purchase of a large item, I find it most convenient to arrange a pick up at Argos or somewhere, in my own time.

This seller is selling copies of Phoenix :**LINK**?

I have just sent him a message asking if he also sends the Phoenix dongle with the disc, as the sim won't work without it.

Thread: My Spektrum DX9 transmitter has stopped working.

When did we ever see a thread saying "my Futaba radio is problematic"? Maybe once in a blue moon.

Where did that carefully researched figure come from?

This forum, very recently.

There was a poll to which almost 1000 members responded (which is statistically very significant), which showed just under 30% of UK RC flyers use Spektrum.

Almost 100% of radio problems involve Spektrum (there are whole threads dedicated to Spectrum problems on here and RCG,and no threads dedicated to Futaba,JR,Frsky, Hitec, multiplexetc. or any other makes).

It is not rocket science.

I understand why, Spektrum is very well marketed with BNF and Txs costing less than £100, it's the old mantra, buy cheap, buy twice.

If Spektrum goes, it will take 90% of radio problems with it.RIP.

Thread: key fob camera

I'd be grateful if someone could post a link to a reliable key fob camera- I've bought two that just didn't work. They were cheap though.

Am I right in thinking Thunder Tiger is a budget motor like Merco?

With regard to Tx question, my Futaba 2.4 Tx came with a standard NIMh battery, so I can use my old charger, and it holds power the same as my old Challenger.

I think it IS new and advertised by a trade seller. I could be wrong, of course. Both my early Taranis transmitters came with the aluminium carrying case and charger as standard and were a lot cheaper than new ones now. I understood that the case is an extra now.

Sorry, but new means unopened and unused. This guy (not a trade seller by looks of it) admits to putting new firmware on it, plus where is the warranty? The ad states no returns. New ones now come with a soft case and a charger for £179, or £170 for the tx and charger only.

No returns doesn't mean anything. EBay are very good at refunding buyers, some sellers say too good.

Thread: What's the main radio brand you use 2017?
02/08/2017 02:30:19

The graphs show the trend is to Spekrum, although they have not yet completely dominated the market.

Cheap, but not wholly reliable.

I would happily recommend Spektrum to a newbie who wanted cheap and cheerful, but would not fly it myself.

A recent thread was about people having trouble with Spektrum radios.

I said "why buy one?" and got a lot of flack, one of most telling arguments being: Spektrum had more reported problems because it was so popular, well this poll shows it makes up just 30% of all radios used!

flight lineAt these times we remember all those lost on the battle fields and rightly so. There were also many who survived but were injured in body and or mind.

The picture postcard shows my grandfather John Rees Evans and is dated January 1918.

Before and after conflict photos show a different person. He was a casualty of Great War but his name is not on any memorial as it was some years after WW1 when my mam was just eight he took his own life.flight line

Very important point and very moving.

01/08/2017 08:31:45

I think the pity of the 1st WW is not to do with the causes or reasons, but the futility of the tactics.

No-one had foreseen the power of the machine gun - it could be adjusted for a specific range, traverse back and fore ,was belt fed and provided a continuous impenetrable barrier.

This had never existed before.

Thousands of troops could be thrown at it (and they were) without success.

Nothing wrong with Spektrum. My DX9 has given me more hours use in 3 years since retirement than all others owned cumulatively since 1969 !😀 DSM 2 was rubbish but DSMX fine ! Seen a lot of Radians have problems though. Have a look at RC Groups . Colin

The radian Pro is universally reviled, and the XL needs beefing up, but the R1 is acclaimed.

If you want a Radian, you'll need to get the Eflite version ,as PZ no longer market the Radian (commonly called Radian1, to distinguish it from the Radian Pro, which you need to avoid as it is a very poor performer).

The Radian is a superb sailplane, the Pro is a dog.
