Thread: Wing walkways

Depends on the size of model, but an "average" sized scale model walkway looks fine in wet n dry.... on my Waco I edged it with Litho as per the full size... and mucked it up a bit with foot prints....img_2874.jpg

Except for leaving models outside! The worst thing you can do is store them in your attic. The moisture and temperature variances are vast! ..... With Balsa for example... Imagine the wood core as a handful of drinking straws, and during the wetter months it draws up moisture..... following on with an unbelievably dry summer and the moisture dries out.... and then gets wet again... then dries out etc etc.. The wood expands, contracts etc etc... glue joints spring, electronics corrode... the list goes on. The current resurgence of old R/C gear, many modellers wonder why the gear can't be modified? Because the electronics have corroded, as it was stored in the attic!

Simply put..... If you don't want your models or gear to decompose, please don't store them in the attic.

Thread: RM Aerobat

No, not tempted now. It had a perfect position in my progression. A good flying machine and yes I would leave the dihedral in.... it adds a little stability in the correct attitude, unless you want it to fly and behave like a Cassutt racing machine.

A blast from the past... this is the RM Aerobat I built in 1987 (With my better half as then) the model was powered by an OS 25 FP and took me miles forward in flying experience. I built it so I could take the U/C off and fly from longer grass if I had to. Eventually it was moved on to Roger Bellingham (RIP) who had watched me using it from time to time and always liked the colour scheme. Another great design by D Boddington if I remember rightly.424813_109464849183752_2005747938_n.jpg
