Thread: CAA registration consulation

There's a data protection laws to think about if the bmfa share information about members. But I think members whould give permission. It is sad that they are modellers who have no way of signing the bmfa pro has they have no email or use a computer.

Thread: Who uses blue or pink foam?
27/03/2019 14:00:10

Hi I have just found this post. I use a lot of blue foam. I purchased a pack of blue foam last August of 75mm. The last 2 packs they had but they were having 100 sheets in the next week. This is sig in Bedford. Dow are now doing it only in a grey colour and it has a different name can not remember what. Sig will only do it in £250 order. I only have 2 sheets left. Pink foam seem to have been stopped being made apart from the stuff on the back of plaster boards .

Hi I cut a lot of wings from 3 meters up to 7 meter span. I use a bow of 48in in length powered by one of them donut transforms can not remember what it is called but it has 2 25v out puts that can be made in to 50v. I only use 25v and go straight to the bow.I can control the temp by moving the wires closer together along the bow.the wire is from a old 1950s heater.

The grob acro is a great model I had one myself a few years ago but I would not go for edf I would use again f.e.s instead a lot easier to do and cheaper. Plus you get more power and flight times per battery. A lot of full size gliders are using fes now including the grob so it will be still scale. A folding propeller and a 1000 watt motor .

Yes it did look like winter wonderland in the workshop after it was carved. The fuz is that big you can get in easy and pick it out. My ash 31 fuz in another thread on this forum will have petrol tipped in to it to melt it out. I have not decided on the power plant yet but it will be a petrol engine I think it maybe a 35cc? ??????.Edited By Roo Hawkins on 12/12/2018 11:08:37

20181125_144138.jpgI have started a grob 109 moter glider it will be nearly 1/3 scale at just over 5metes span . i am doing it when I have a gap in building other gliders. the fuz is lost foam and is 2 meters long. it is carved out of foam and glassed with epoxy and twill glass. if I need carbon it will be added later.20181114_192246.jpg

Hi have you thought about a pat teakle glider they are about ?370 and they fly great but you do have to build them yourself has they are only a basic kit. Glass fuselage and foam wings tail and canopy. I have a vega .dart and asw 20.

Hi I would keep well away from them. They have very weak wings the wings joiner tubes in the wings are only fixed to the ribs and not the spars and the fuselages can sometimes be weak. It is a shame if they spent a few more ? they could have built a nice glider.

A WORD OF WARNING. The smell test is not a good idea as some chemicals have no smell I use a lot of epoxy resin and this as little smell but still has dangerous fumes.
