Thread: Spektrum 6E or G3?
25/10/2020 13:39:46
Posted by David H on 25/10/2020 12:52:47:

DX range being superseded - some models have already been discontinued:

https://spektrumrc.com/Air/Radios.aspx

The latest Spektrum range of Tx are the NX:range:

https://alshobbies.co.uk/radio-sets/aircraft-radio-sets

Is the entire DX range being discontinued or is the NX range being added as a top tier above the DX range?

25/10/2020 12:21:50

Comparison of Spektrum Tx models here.

Tx comparison

I have a DX6 G3 and a DX7 G2 both have voice alerts which I find useful/reassuring (yes I did chose the right switch/ the motor is off).

Also the DX6e does not have diversity antennae.

good point....

Hats in cars UNLESS the car is a PROPER Land Rover, and the hat is not a baseball cap (worn any way.... actually baseball hats worn with the peak anywhere other than straight ahead can be added to the list)

GG

Can we have an exemption for balding men driving open top sports cars for one of 2 reasons?

1) To prevent sunburn.

2) To keep the head warm.

Although I am not completely decided on the second, seems to me that if it's cold enough to need a hat you shouldn't be driving a car with the top down.

Extra points given for wearing a top hat in these circumstances and keeping it on.surprise

The limits to growth was published 48 years ago on behalf of The Club of Rome

Its predictions of where would be at today are uncomfortably close.

The availability of fresh water will limit human [ and other ] life in many parts of the world [ Just today America and Mexico are squabbling over how much is taken from the Rio Grand for irrigation ect ] No water no life.

Indeed, disputes over fresh water, rights to fisheries, illegal logging, migration, adverse weather, changing patterns of crop diseases, these are all things my children have to look forward to sad

Anyway, so like basically reverting to the title, the Honda Jazz driven at a constannt 36 mph regardless of location, usually with a dozen vehicles queueing behind it.

Can I just point out that at no point did I blame "the poor" for the problem.

The earth has a finite carrying capacity for both human and other life.

The more the human population consumes, the bigger the problem. By consume, I include use of energy, materials food and land.

Human consumption depends upon both the world population and lifestyle.

If everyone currently alive had a western European lifestyle (which they do not) we would require 3 earths to fulfil demand.

If everyone had a North American lifestyle we would require approx. 5 earths to fulfil demand.

It is perfectly reasonable for anyone to have (or aspire to) a reasonable lifestyle.

In which case, the human population is limited by the lifestyle defined as "reasonable", the "better" the lifestyle, the fewer the people sustainable.

Many years ago, my daughter complained that "life isn't fair" to which I replied that she should be grateful, if life was fair we would be living in a small wooden house with a few acres of land to grow our food on, it made her think.

A family of 8, small home 1 car, can't afford holidays, eat to live, no dining out, use as little energy as their money will allow.

A family of 4, wealthy 4 cars, motorbike, big house, lights/heating on all day, holidays aplenty etc, etc, etc.

Who's doing the damage, the Elephant is a smoke screen, a fraud, a lie.

In the short term, the family of 4, in the long term, the family of 8 unless they forgo having children and do not aspire to being wealthy.

Save the planet. Is what people say.

The planet has been around for some 4.5 billion years and according to professor Brian Cox [ and others ] it will go on existing for about the same again until the sun becomes a red giant and swallows it up.

I guess Save the human race does not have the same ring to it.

But it. is the human race that needs saving [from its self ]along with many of the plants and creatures that live alongside us.

On a similar note, I despair when programmes or interviews pontificate on the causes of Global Warming without ever touching on the fact that there are three times as many people on the planet as can be sustainably supported in the long term. I suppose that global overpopulation is the elephant in the room, unfortunately in 50 years it may be the only type of elephant left. Unless we bite the bullet and take steps to drastically reduce the population "we're doomed" (said in a cod Scottish accent with apologies to Private Frazer). I shall stop now as I am in danger of exceeding this month's idiom quotient.

I just plugged in the battery then the esc into the receiver and the black wire of the esc blew. Maybe I got the esc plug the wrong way round. The battery is a T2200 and the radio is a TGY-16 the motor is a 36-48 700kv out runner. I bought this from new a couple of years ago and have never used it. Hobbyking Grasshopper L1

When you say the "black wire blew" what exactly happened, can you post a picture?

How about an Aerostar 50A ESC from Hobbyking UK warehouse, I have a couple, they seem fine.

Thread: New Spektrum NX range
16/10/2020 11:16:26

Looks interesting.

To my mind, the inclusion of WiFi is unnecessary, others may disagree.

Just looked at the NX6 manual and at least it appears that you can import model settings from earlier SD card slot equipped transmitters, although the NX6 has a micro sd card slot rather than a full size one.

At least they are still using the DSMX protocol.

With luck the DX series might be sold off at lower prices when the NX series are available

I dare say the battery price is just a "placeholder" price and they don't have the price from the supplier yet.

Thread: Loaded Dice 30 EP
15/10/2020 16:13:54
Posted by kc on 15/10/2020 14:13:17:

The leading edge is tapered isn't it? So Paul's measurement may be at fuselage sides and that could be near or same as 160 to 175 at the mid point of wing. Could be worth re- calculating using formula for tapered wing in various books. Also check for double taper - maybe TE is also tapered as it is in the larger Loaded Dice ( that plan is on Outerzone and shows CG position for that version )

The leading edge is swept back and the trailing edge is perpendicular to the fuselage centre line. However, the wing sweep starts at the wing/fuselage junction so it should not make a difference to the COG measurement.
