If you edit and delete your sales listings as items are sold, Stearman65, that will save you the need to inform everyone each time, ta.

Pete

Already done that. But I must say anyone reading the thread you have locked may assume the items are still for sale. IMO what I have been doing alleviates this & prevents the reader wasting their time looking for the items..

That's the worst advise I've ever seen on here.angry

Why? If your not intelligent to work out what's happening perhaps you should stay clear of the internet all together.

I've been using the internet probably before you were born, I know the pitfalls of advertising your email & phone number, obviously you don't.nonono

Some idiot called P**** from Milton Keynes just bought the radio on Ebay using his phone, paid by Paypal but didn't include carriage, realised he had bought & paid for it, then emailed me to cancel it as he had made a mistake. So if you are looking for it, it isn't sold, yet!!!!angry

If you want people to contact you add your email and phone number, very easy to weed out the scammers from the email wording, others that phone are usually not scammers but would be easy to weed out with a couple of modelling questions. If your not sure about an email contact ask him to ring or give you his number, that soon sorts um.

That's the worst advise I've ever seen on here.angry

I too am having trouble with the classifieds site. I have a number of things on there for sale, but only allow possibles to contact via BMFA. I've had 5 enquiries for the same item, when I reply I get a bounce back, so In one instance replied to the enquirers email address which they had provided. He replied but there was no sale. IMO the BMFA classifieds system is a mess, stuff sells well but the admin is atrocious. Complained twice but no reply.

Hi Stearman

hope you don’t mind me criticising your ad.

I find it really hard to read it would be a lot better if paragraphs were used to section the different categories of gear that is for sale.

Its probably just me but asking for payment by PayPal gift annoys me, there’s lots of warnings to people about not using PayPal gift. If you can’t suck up the 4% add it to the price.

hoping not to offend but to help

Mick

Hi Mick

I agree the add looks a mess, but that is the forums software that has bunched things together. The original which I pasted into the add has the paragraphs & some punctuation & line breaks removed. I may renew the adds as separate items but it's a load of hassle. Re friends & Family, I've asked PP about this & didn't get a reply despite chasing them, so maybe it's forum hearsay? What I have suggested, is pay the asking price by normal Paypal & their commission using Friends & Family, that way the are no problems with PP cover, only their commission possibly.

Thanks guys. It seems the gremlins are at work again. Had 3 enquiries from the BMFA site for the Profilm iron, I replied through BMFA & all 3 bounced back. Just now I had a message from BT Yahoo mail that they were having problems, sorry if I am affected. Not had anything from the add on here so not sure if there is something clogging the airways?frown
