The Provost covered and finished AUW....26oz so bit heavier than i wanted but i did use the heavier Oracover to get a good finish

Thanks again......The Hawk may well get another reincarnation Hugh.... although i have just modified the old Pusher Lightning I did a few years ago with a single 50mm fan..... Also a TSR2 is being sribbelled at the moment.....one of my favourites

Well done Tim....flies just as I remember it.....although mine used the lack luster AEO fan (now consigned to history)

Just been trying some HTI-RC 50mm fan units (Funjet) and these are an exact copy of the FMS 50mm fan....they are currently £16 on Banggood so an absolute STEAL capture.jpg

Thanks for all your comments.....The models will all appear as free plans sooner or later and I will be stocking the 50mm FMS fan as this is the only fan I will recommend. Using the 2700 mah 3S lipo in the Provest, Im getting 7-8min flight time and 6-7min for the Gnat using the 2200mah.

Loving these models

Thread: New EDF Mini Jets- Jet Provost & Folland Gnat

A couple of new EDF jets following on from the principle used so successfully on the Mig15, Sabre, Hunter and Phantom.

Because I dont have a time limit as to when i need to publish these models, I have had a load of fun really wringing these out and get the best out of the EDF setup.....The Provost is fabulous and is sooooo smooth.

Putting larger lipo packs in these models has given them more duration and a little more resilience to stronger winds...2700mah in the Provost and 2200mah in the Gnat

I have ditch using the AEO 50mm fans and now only use the FMS 50mm 3S 5400kv version that can deliver around 600g of thrust. All the new models are now around 6 to 8oz heavier than the sabre /Mig and seem to work better with the extra weight....still only 22oz /sq foot wing loading so still very hand launchable!

Hope get some video to post tomorrow

The latest designs for the Hunter which is the same size as the Sabre, is 22oz AUW with a 2200mah pack and the hand launch, with the 600g of power, is far easier than when I was using the AEO fan and a 15oz model!

this is the FMS 50mm 3s version......these are really superb fan and can deliver 600g of thrust. I hoping to order a batch of these in the near future so my customers will have some order certancy. The one below is the AEO 50mm 3s version rated at around 400g....having now tried both the FMS is really the prefered choice and more importantly, the power can carry the 2200mah lipo.....the FMS EDF is only around £5 more

Tony, there is a protective film on BOTH side!.....remove both and you'll have a clear canopy!

01/03/2019 15:41:32

Woody, You will have an extra 200g trust with the 4S....800g in total!!! but you have a throttle so you wont need full throttle.

At least with 4S the current draw will be less so duration will be better as long as your sparing with the throttle.....enjoy the thrill!!!!

Hi Ray, I have had a word with george and 4Max may now stock them...I will also do the same at some point in the future

Anthony, just because you are installing the more powerfully FMS fan in dosent mean the duration will be any less. You simply use enough power to fly the model....half throttle for the FMS fan and 3/4 throttle for the cheaper less power hungry AEO fan.

The Prototype Hunter you see in the video started life with a 1500mah 65C pack and now it carries a 2200mah 35C cheaper pack because the FMS fans has more power and the ability to carry the extra weight...easy decision i think.

27/02/2019 10:20:39

Ian, its easy to order the wrong S rating fan on the Banggood site.... The 4S version is a 4500kv motor as opposed to a 5300kv for the 3S version .....if you operate the 4S Fan on 3S Lipo, you will only achieve 75% of the rated thrust or less...obviously the up side is the lower current draw...

26/02/2019 23:13:28

Ian...so looking back through the postings you say you have the FMS 50mm from Banggood?... and assume it 3S version not the 4S? ........on the assumption you have some cheat holes in the sides you have 600g of thrust at your disposal!!! thats one to one trust to weight ratio which rocket stuff!!!......if you can only get it to power glide without the lid off, then there is something wrong with your Fan/ lipos or ESC setup.....the Hunter is 5oz heavier than the Mig and goes like a rocket (as did the MiG)!

I will do a video of MiG at some point if only to silence the critics!
