There is this comment on another thread by David Ashby, dated end November: "I've had a message to the effect that Colin of BB is just undergoing rehab after surgery and, hopefully, should be back at the helm in a couple of weeks. Like lots of Hobby traders, he's the owner/manager which is why things have been a little quiet of late." Sorry I don't know how to post a link. |

Thread: My First Build Starts Soon |
20/12/2020 22:31:54 |
Hi Brian, I'm building this at the moment, it's almost complete and I hope to be covering it soon. I'm enjoying this build, it's straightforward, but, I have found the instructions are a bit confusing in some places. If you have any problems, and you post on here, I'm sure the expert forum members will be happy to help. I am but a mere novice compared to others here, I've only been building and flying for a decade or so but, I will be happy to help where I can based on my experiences with this model. |

I had one from Steve Webb's, they recommended fully synthetic when I bought it, the manual Here says castor or synthetic. I hope it helps. |
Thread: Green RC 50" Tiger Moth |

Ive just been to look at the model to find the prop size but, it seems to have no markings whatsoever. It came from hobbyking. It is however nine inch diameter (just measured) but I can't remember the pitch. Sorry this isnt as much help as it could be. |

I don’t know how much this helps but, I have a DB Sport and Scale 48 inch tiger moth, it flies very nicely on 300w using a 35mm diaTurnigy motor and 3s lipo. Performance is probably best described as scale like but, it was never designed for lots of power (I am already concerned about the security of the top wing). Mine is a little smaller than yours, but this was the biggest motor I could fit in the cowl and there is only just enough space for a 3s battery in the fuselage. At the time of building I had a 60 amp ESC and tried to use it because I'm a skinflint and didn't want to buy another, however I couldn’t squeeze all the wires in the cowl. I replaced it with a smaller (40 amp, from HobbyKing) which I fitted in the cowl attached to the firewall. It will easily take off on ½ throttle, even with this (by modern standards) feeble power unit. (sorry about the bold type) Edited By edgar on 11/09/2020 15:30:47 |

Yes, I am using a 620 and I'm perfectly happy with it, it's not quite as small as I expected (my fault, I should have checked) but easy to install with no antenna to think about. |
