Thread: LIPO/TX/RX Battery discharging
19/11/2010 11:08:10
What are you trying to achieve with your discharging? I would strongly suggest that you do not discharge LIPOs unless you have some specific need. With the Nickel based cells I would use 1 or 1,1V pre cell i.e. 4.4V and 8.8V for the two packs you mention. I would use about 0.5A discharge rate.

Although I say above "I would" in fact I would not  discharge my NimH as I do not think that they suffer from memory effects. I am also dubious about memory effects on Nicd cells but since I do not use them anymore its not a problem I need worry about.

Starting to look like a wing

I am never happy with the accuracy of my building. I guess it will get better with practice. I tried really hard to get the slots in the ribs to fit the spars perfectly but the are slightly too deep, although they are nice and tight apart from that. I used a band saw to cut them undersized and cleaned them up with a file.

Now for some glue!

Andy, please do not post in capitals, it is considered to be shouting and will put some people off from replying to your question.

Sorry I can't help with your specific question but hopefully someone who can will be along shortly.

Thread: prop questions
17/11/2010 19:22:13
It a simple one word answer Speed. Flying wings normally are for fast flying and if you want to go fast you need a small prop spinning fast. A bigger prop would be more efficient so you could fly for longer but more slowly.

Have you tried FMS the free simulator. There are loads of weired and wonderful models you can download and all fo rfree. The simulations is not brilliant and the graphics are not top notch  but hay it's just a bit of fun.

I have seen that video so many times and I still enjoy it just as much as I did the first time.
Thread: Which Servo to Use
12/11/2010 17:15:56
I would also go with the 14g. Once you find a servo you like I would stick with it. I had some total rubbish servos from that supplier a while ago.
Thread: What's going on?
11/11/2010 08:37:55
When I get down and go off flying I find something simple cheap and easy to fly and go and chuck it around the sky. Just go and fly for the shear hell of it not for the challenge of a new or fast model. Then I find that I remember why I love doing it.

I must say that I am struggling for enthusiasm at the moment and have not been doing much flying but I always feel a bit like that at this time of year. I think it is due to poor weather combined with short days.

Good luck

Thread: .90 engine needed for pattern ship
01/11/2010 08:15:49
An LA10 is 9 times smaller that the 90 you are looking for your model. That is .1of a cubic inch you want a .9 of a cubic inch engine. Sorry I do not have one to swap.
Thread: Best way of cleaning an ic engine?

Fairy Power Spray is the one for me. Not a corrosive as some of the others but doesa good job and washes off with water.
Thread: King Air twin turboprop
31/10/2010 13:09:17
From reading the comments it appears to only have an auto feather on the props to allow the turbine to spin up and down with minimal load not full variable pitch. Fantastic model though.
