Thread: Something undemanding.

Agreed. 300 watt motor, 10x7 prop, 40A ESC and a 2200 3S would be good for about eight minutes.

A USB device does not need drivers,

USB devices most definitely do need drivers. If a device works without having to install drivers, they're already built into the OS.

No, ModelZone

IMHO, nothing much to see.

Thread: power 90 & hobbywing 100amp hv esc

I was thinking that there could be different Kv ratings when I found the original link and looked again just now. I only see 325.

My link was to the manufacturer's manual. Their site also says 14 poles.

What does it say on the one that you have there ? Or check your motor.

BTW, great episode.

He's the same guy who recently dropped a Funjet from a baloon on the edge of space.

Well, Hangar 9 make some very nice models but they still need to get rid of the gloss finish.

What a mess.

Started with - clean, throttle control, easy set up, reliable running and virtually silent.

Ended with - oily, no throttle control, spluttering engine and truly awful noise, to the extent that I stopped watching the video before the end.

Thread: Google and BMFA Classifieds

That's what I was thinking. I've pinged them but don't expect a reply as they've never bothered to do so before.

I'm wondering if it's got something to do with when the pictures option wasn't working.

Maybe they were compromised without telling people.

Does anyone else see something odd under the 'Latest Ads', 'Gliders'. etc, sections if they go to and search for bmfa classified ?

Thread: Motor, and prop selection question.
20/09/2012 12:55:17

I'd say that geared motors are now very much in the minority.

Which motor did you choose ?

How much do you thin the model will weigh ?

Prop choice depends on motor choice and speed controller choice depends on the first two.

Battery voltage and capacity also needs to be considered.

I think that 3S probably isn't enough for your application. I suspect that the estimated short flight time is due to the pack being drained with high amps. More volts will mean less amps and more flight time.

Thread: Foamy Trainer Advice
16/09/2012 18:07:36

The WOT 4 Foam-e mk2 isn't a trainer. Unlike a trainer, if you get into trouble and let go of the sticks, it will not go to straight and level flight.

Most, if not all, trainers come with tricycle undercarriage and tail draggers are deemed to be another step forward. I've never took off or landed with tricycle undercarriage so that's what seems alien to me but my previous comments still apply.

I also used them in my Formosa.

The Parkzone P-51D and F4F use them.
