Thread: Not as I remember . . . ?

Yes it was - 'The BMFA Power Nationals or "Nat's" to its friends is the largest model flying show in Europe'.

Why did they let him fly with a guy's head in that model ? smile o Didn't it look a bit unusual ?

Plenty of bang for your buck then ? wink

Good job that you hadn't taken off.

BTW, it looks very futuristic. That's probably what they use to power alien flying saucers.

I had to do a double take when I saw that. In fact, I did many 'takes' so I did a bit of research and reckon that it's a PAW 60 TBR-RC or similar.

No mistake. It's just got 0.1 better smiley

There are very few NiCads around. NiMHs replaced those.

As both produce a nominal 1.2v per cell, I think that the battery monitor will work with NiMHs.

Thread: London Air Ambulance

I used to work in the police service and often visited the air support unit. They also now have an MD but originally, they had a BO-105. I was there one day when it felt like it was blowing a gale but I still watched the pilot land exactly on the lines on the trailer.

Spektrum have referred to SEFF and Joe Nall, where they have more than a thousand pilots. For regular flying, I'm not sure that DSMX make much difference.

Each to his own but I think that trim scheme's one of the worst I've ever seen.

I think that the answers to these questions about the 3-Axis will already be here

Oooops, it drives me insane when people ask questions without reading previous posts and here I am doing just that....sorry! I have tried a Y lead on mine without success (Spektrum Tx and Rx)

Thanks for the info JC, I'll keep messing with it but looks like I'll end up having to use a miniature hardware servo reverser on one of the wings. Surely this is an issue with the unit if it isn't providing correct aileron outputs?

Not an option for Spektrum gear. They tell you so.

Thread: Ben Buckle Kits
17/08/2012 08:45:26

I've no hands-on experience of these kits but it was only last night that I mentioned to one of the other guys that I'd love to build a Junior 60. Look on here for several threads about this model. There's also a lot of useful information on RC Groups. Here's a good example to keep you interested.

Thread: Hobby King UK
16/08/2012 22:15:44

Yes, I saw that. They're really making some decent models and here in the UK as well.

How about these two beauties ?

I remember watching Scott showing them off before they were released. Outstanding.

The Hawk is very reasonably priced but the retracts come in at a stupid price.

I need to stop looking for new models as I'm not getting the chance to fly what I already have,

Paul, I guess the BMFA classifieds is the best alternative around at the moment. If it was more widely publicised and bit more reliable it would be a good resource.

It would also be better if it always worked and wasn't apparently hosted on a Sinclair Spektrum wink

I wouldn't be worried about the frankenstien thing. i have a model with the rear end of a cessna 172 and the front end of a 109... certainly gets a few looks at the field, especially as i haven't bothered to change the paint job!

Cool. Makes me think of this

yes Dave, that and the thoughts of that wing stalling down quicker than a quick thing, the wing design has been sorted, trouble is, most of the twins are of american aircraft, with the exeption of the ME110, the mossie, although well known over here, is not on the americans want list, product development very much depends on the american market,

As it happens, I was thinking about how slowly he brings it in smiley

My own twin was called the 'Twin Alpha' during development due to the fact that it flies like a trainer.

Thread: Being dragged screaming and kicking towards 2.4!

A lone flyer should stick to 35MHz ? Very bad advice. When I started flying (self-taught) I used my Futaba 6EXA 35Mhz TX not knowing that there was a club not that far away. That was quite a while ago before I got involved with the BMFA, the club, etc. If you cannot be 100% sure that there will be nobody else nearby with a 35MHz TX, 2.4GHz is more than likely the best option.
