I put the engine as far forward as poss, and ASP are not the lightest. Hope the pics do justice....
31/05/2010 08:28:32

Er...never weighed mine but with the ASP I only had to add about 15-20g of nose ballast.

And also where the cover fits over the tailwheel assembly in the rear of the fus,,,I screwed mine down instead of glueing it- just in case    I should ever want to readjust the rudder and tail wheel assembly.

Take your time with the belly pan and make sure it lines up with the fus, if need be put the wings on to give you a better idea.

Thread: Advice on building please!! :)

In reply to Tony Smith7, All I am trying to say is that CAP 658 ( best practice ) is based on BFMA saftey codes as in the Members Handbook. Alot can be learnt by reading it but there is nothing like first hand tuition, knowledge and local khow-how.

I wouldn't know how to drive a car by reading the owners handbook and using a driving simulator.....see my point

Just a thought Colin, if you go flying you will need to comply with the CAA's CAP 658 as best practice. You will need to comply with ANO 137 and 138,," A person must not recklessly or negligently cause or permit an aircraft to endanger any person or property" and
"A person must not recklessly or negligently act in a manner likely to endanger the aircraft or any person in the aircraft".

This applies to all model aircraft from the lightest indoor to a 20kg jet.

You try to learn to fly outdoors on your own and hurt someone or do damage you may be up before the law.................oops

Hey Colin it sounds like you need a club with years of experience and a helpful club mate or two to guide you and talk to.

APC props are usually quieter  and  coarser props too,, keep the same diameter for the moment..

Thread: BH 65" Chipmunk

BH Chipmunks are great fliers. ASP 70FS in mine. I had to add some down elevator with the flaps but not too much. Lovely sound with the FS. Did glue the wings together. The only thing is the bellypan is a pain to get right.

Just ordered a key fob camera and will put that on my Junior 60 for the summer. These photos show the camera holder on my own design G-Wizz

I understand about time constraints but someones advice and tuition will be shorter in the long run than trying yourself. Its alot more fun with several of you anyway. Any club worth its salt will not mind you turning up and looking what other club fliers are doing before you part with money over a few weekends. In my club we are very happy to see anybody that takes a keen interest and is enthusiastic. Give it a try.......you might like it

Colin

GO AND JOIN A CLUB.......they have a great deal of experience and will know what is best to get you going without a great deal of financial pain. There is probably 100's of years of practicle experience in any club and is better than reading a book.
