Thread: OS 48 Surpass Stripdown

Hi Brian,

Try the following sequence: first lift the liner part way out of the crankcase to enable you to see the piston if you look through the small hole in the back of the crankcase. Rotate the crankshaft so the piston moves up inside the partially removed liner - you should then be able to see the end of the gudgeon pin when it is in line with this hole.  Then use a tooth pick to engauge in the small hole in the end of the gudgeon pin, which should allow you to pull the gudgeon pin through the hole in the crankcase releasing it from the piston. Then remove the liner fully with the piston inside, the connecting rod can then be removed from the end of the crankshaft. Job done! Please make sure you mark everything to enable you to re-assemble the engine correctly.

I hope this is of some use as it's easier to do than describe. I wish you success with the engine re-build.

 Chris.
