Thread: How long have you been in the hobby?
22/01/2019 17:27:08

Some 60 years off and on including the "sex drugs n rock n roll years, marriage, 2 kids and a career. Airfix when I was in single figures and a plan from Boys Own Paper when I was eleven, tissue dope and a Cox 010 bought from paper round money! Loved it all, no regrets just wish I could fly like Jase Dussia!

My thoughts are with you. I lost my Chris in July after 46 years together. But as someone else said look after yourself. There are no wordsbut hopefully like me your happier memories will overcome the sad ones. Best wishes.

Thread: Battle of Britain: Model Squadron

Sorry John. The hope with reviews is that the manufacturer picks up and puts it right! Its a nice model and has good "presence".

17/09/2018 17:48:10

The Dynam 110 suffered from motor timing out of the box when reviewed. A fix was published with my review in RCM&E in Sep 2015. The motors wud not sync sometimes on throttle up. Could happen in flight as well which might explain the attrition rate.

Thread: Proposed new drone legislation/registration
09/02/2018 21:38:24

Having recently attended a local airport's drone safety awareness seminar with ATC and safety managers from UKs 2nd largest airport it was disappointing how few drone fliers, both recreational and commercial understood or new about insurance. Additionally one guy thought the local council were responsible for all flying in their area ( approach to uks 2nd largest airport).

It was good to note that Nats are on "our side" and also embrace drone technology, indeed using drone runway inspection between 2 minute departure arrivals!. I trained with Nats during the late 60s and early 70s and have huge respect for their vision of safety and , I believe, their respect for our hobby.

Carry 3 or 4 triangular bandages. My 1st paramedic aid trainer taught me these can be used on nearly all physical in juries. Very versatile and cheap. cardiac stuff different - needs rapid assistance.
