Both mine fitted with 10x6 prop which has tips 3 mm above top of boom. No idea where thrust line to cog is .. both fly great so don’t worry about it

I have one of Malcolm’s heads on my Ducati Revolver.. lovely piece of design and printing. The whole kit Malcolm provides is a significant step up to the HK parts we used to source.

I spoke to him about the length of the head bolt and with the double thick plates then the next size of bolt 35mm was too long. The 30mm supplier with the thin nuts just gives enough to be flush. I like a thicker plain nut above the head so if this is used a 32mm bolt is required which I cut down from a 35mm.

Next time a batch is printed he suggested he might tweek the design again. That’s the great thing about Malcolm he is keen to listen and without his efforts with this head we would be a little stuck

That Prop is a PUSHER prop.. hence is has to spin anti clockwise... No problem but as a result your motor needs to move to the LEFT of the mast centreline when viewed from the rear - opposite to the plan.

Many of our models use standard props which then turn clockwise from rear and so the motors are offset to the RIGHT of the mast...

If you do this with the pushed you might notice then the rudder trim is to the right not left..

Good luck !!

Mourn it and move on chaps.. yet another company and great products finished.. I bet people were not buying enough as the reducing number of people in our hobby, geriatric modellers moves to electric, gas turbines, petrol .

we have done it to ourselves as the next generation on mass is more interested in online gaming or their smartphones

i too have 2st and 4st ASP products - they continue to be fantastic

I put my servos reversed to the plan with the output arms at the bottom not top.

This makes the head control rods a bit longer but means the cut out for the arms and their movement is only required in the fuselage and not the canopy.

I am a bit confused in your comment on servo travel of 135 deg.. normally servos move approx +/- 45 deg from centre position - 90 deg total ??

I use Spektrum too mode 1.

2 head servos are set up as a delta model by Wing type eleven.. mixes 2 together for pitch and roll.. make sure you use good metal geared servos not nylon geared ones. If model tips over on take off and landing then with blades there is enough energy to strip nylon geared servos

Rich and I fly mode1 so when your ready to test, if not too far maybe help is at hand.

My 2 models are fitted with 10x6e props as I could not get the 3 blade ones. This moves the motor up but it seems to work as both fly well.

As for the blades and balsaloc I use it during balancing as it works. I have also used pva .Don’t think it matters how you balance the blades as long as you achieve it

Thanks Rich and appreciate the comments. A great design of model needs to catch the eye. Yes I think there could be some more motorsport ones .. Gents start your engines !’

Maiden done tonight and goes well on 3 blades. A circuit too on 2 blades but kept my thumbs busy !!! A little more tuning required to dial that one in I think

Getting there yes

09/04/2019 12:07:24

Yes mine uses the HK head as with many of my small models - absolutely fine but the weak link is the forward arm as it has minimum section due to all the drilled holes. Flying loads are not the issue but a tip over on takeoff or landing normally snaps it like a carrot.

Not being a machinist I thought there must be a way and with aluminium strip from ebay and a pillar drill and hacksaw a much stronger arm can be made in 5 mins which bolts straight on... I will post a pic.

This model is probably my most flown and still my 'Go too !! '

Some pics from just last Sunday cheeky

Key to the pop bottle and heat gun method is to get the bottle to shrink as little as possible. Select a bottle only just larger than plug or if bottle bigger fill Behring plug with scraps. If you ask bottle go shrink too much it won’t and will bubble and burn as you apply more heat to try and increase shrinking

good luck Steve

Moving forward allows more space for the fuel tank .. I use 4oz Slec which is ok but I would prefer a 6 oz for more flight time to be safe. The 52 is plenty of power but 5 mins on the 4 oz is short

Extending the nose is not an issue for flying and I just balanced the model at the original cog position

Hi David

I have 2 Panthers, the second fitted with an inverted SC52 fs. My engine is mounted to the bulkhead but the bulkhead was moved forward 15mm and the nose shaped to blend. Engine fits in cowl perfect and silencer shaped in side cheek. Cooling is not an issue and keeps the lines

Check out my Album on my profile for build pics and the engine installation - it’s the red model as the orange is the first with a 32 2stroke
