When Michael Foot MP was put in charge of a committee to examine the case for nuclear disarmament, the Times ran the headline "Foot heads arms body".

The dangers of polystyrene fumes when cutting foam wings are well-known. But did you know that obeche can give you veneer-eal disease?

Thread: Buy a Spectrum radio for BNF or find another heli..
13/03/2013 17:04:15

Sounds like a good plan! BTW, there's an even cheaper 450 here: **LINK**

You have to supply the radio, gyro and batteries youself, but it still looks like a good deal.

I've also got a 450 which I really enjoy flying, but I got the FBL100 because I wanted something I could fly in the road outside my house on a calm day! We've also got a meeting room at work which is just about big enough for tight circuits with a micro heli. I don't think flying a 450 there would go down too well!

I bought an FBL 100 helicopter, available on Ebay (HiSky) and also Hobby King (Turnigy). It's very similar to the MCPX, but comes with its own transmitter, at a comparable price.
The Tx is fairly basic - there's no rates, exponential etc, but the sticks are good, and I have to say that overall I've been very pleased with it. It does have an idle-up switch so loops and rolls are possible. I've seen videos of it doing inverted flight as well, but I'm not quite that proficient with it yet!

I could have sworn I was driving along in front of Van Morrison the other day. But then I realised I was looking in the mirror, and it was a Morrison's van.

If you do post photos, don't forget to turn them upside-down first. smiley

Thread: Sandbox
23/02/2013 20:15:20

Why is it anything posted in the sandbox immediately becomes the centre of attention?

I mean haven't you got anything better to look at?

There's nothing to see here. Move along please.

Thread: Freezing of site & forums

We've experienced freezing at our site too.
It's been particularly bad after all the flooding we've had...

A little more information at **LINK**

The company website seems a bit coy about the Black Hornet, but some interesting products at **LINK**

The MAV-07 claims 10 minutes from a 200mAh LiPo. The other products' flight times sound a bit more realistic.

Good to see such a valuable use of our technology!
20 minutes duration seems pretty amazing, given that it's powering the camera as well.

In the Tesco canteen you can't get burgers as a main dish - they're under starters orders.

The girls, the fast cars and the money.
I've been terribly disappointed.
Thread: Can silver coloured covering affect radio signal?
15/01/2013 11:01:11

A friend of a friend was once flying a thermal soarer covered in the stuff at Richmond Park. He was tapped on the shoulder by a police officer, who said "Heathrow radar report an unidentified object at 1000ft. Please get that thing down."

A few months ago I had exactly the same problem with Chrome. I tried running IE9 on the same PC, and that had the same problem too. It didn't happen on my laptop running Chrome though, so I could post from that machine.
After a few weeks the problem went away, and I don't know why. It may have been after I had deleted all browser history, cookies etc, so you might like to try that.
Thread: Ebay being flooded with LX Mig 29 rtf kits

In one way they have done you a favour by sending a small pack of glitter. PayPal will insist that you return the item to the seller before they will give you a refund. I once bought a 3D 2.4GHz heli from a Chinese seller, but received a cheap 27MHz contra-rotating toy. It cost me over £40 to send it back to China (and the seller had moved on anyway!).

In Dubai they don't like the Flintstones, but Abu Dhabi do.
