Thread: battery fires
02/12/2010 09:18:47
I remember a friend put a lipo on charge and a while later saw smoke coming from his shed,it would appear that the default charging on his charger was NI/CAD and he had not set it to lipo!

Sorry Andy, but there was a piece in the daily mail last week about a 42 year old t/v with a remote control which had never gone wrong and as I was a t/v engineer since the early days I new it was  incorrect so it clouded my judgement!

you are probably right, the press allways blow things up and out of proportion also they hate us modelers!
30/11/2010 14:37:37
It would seem the modeler does not look at these pages!
30/11/2010 14:21:15
Yes Chris but I wonder if it was LIPOS or something else?
29/11/2010 14:01:49

Has anyone noticed the price of entry is now £12 and no concessions? It seems to jump up every year have they not heard of recession.I will probably give it a miss this year and at least not have to listen to Dave Bishop make a fool of himself with his jet models for £14.95 etc.

I have a 9 year old Rover 25 2 litre diesel and the only thing that has gone wrong is a part made in Germany. I agree, it was not the workforce but the greedy management who went home with Millions of pounds after asset stripping!

Thread: squall

Don,t know because mine came from foamyjets and they have packed up trading. The motor and fan was also supplied by them and it goes very quickly and is very noisy, great fun!
Thread: Lipo Warning
11/06/2010 09:28:32
The person who thinks over 70 years old is past it probably thinks we should not drive cars .I have seen many mistakes with LIPOS,LEAD ACID and other storage devices in my time.It is all down to common sense and using the correct equipment. One of our members accidentally put a lipo on charge and forgot the default setting on his charger is NiCad! You can guess what happened, and he is in his 50,s!
Thread: Diesel fuel
26/05/2010 11:14:02
I used to mix my own fuel in the fifties for various engines including Olivers Tigers and if memory serves it was 8oz ether, 6oz medicinal caster,10oz parafin plus a tablespoon of amyl nitrite and never had any trouble with that.I hope that helps.

when I were a lad one of my friends used REDEX as the lubricant in diesel fuel and it worked!  is it still available i wonder?
