Here some more pickies

1 raider (23).jpg

1 raider (24).jpg

9 gram servo works fine

1 raider (25).jpg

1 raider (26).jpg

Receiver in a small cutout and covered with film

1 raider (27).jpg

1 raider (28).jpg

30 Amp Esc and motor 2830 1000kv with 10x5 , no powerhouse but enough for fun flying and combat.

1 raider (29).jpg

The Lipo 3S 2200ma 20C works fine and is cheap , sits in place with only velcro. Hold perfect for flight but comes off on a crash which safes the batt.

1 raider (30).jpg

I use the HK velcro which works great.

1 raider (31).jpg

The line is handy for aligning the motormount with the eye, you won't fly strait devil so its not critical wink.

1 raider (32).jpg

1 raider (33).jpg

1 raider (34).jpg

1 raider (35).jpg

The cg as per plan is 2 1/16" inch but on my model sits a little more forward because the location of the batt.

Better a litlle more forward than aft because then it won't fly.

Thats it for now but theres more to come lateron.

Iam not really a foam fan but I love the David Boddington Raider Combat design from 1980, its easy to make and 100% fun to fly.

As Always I make a lots more pics than there's needed for the article as published in the RCM&E Febr-2017.

So for every one who likes pickies or have questions have a look in here or as your question.

Enjoy smiley

Ready start cutting foam

1 raider (4).jpg

1 raider (5).jpg

1 raider (6).jpg

Power on and now full power to start cutting foam

1 raider (9).jpg

It works the wire is cutting foam at half trottle

1 raider (10).jpg

1 raider (11).jpg

Pim is cutting the sheet to the size needed

1 raider (12).jpg

1 raider (13).jpg

1 raider (14).jpg

1 raider (15).jpg

The first try to cut the profile its by the way Pim's first time cutting a wing

1 raider (16).jpg

Looks like Pim is going a little to fast or the wire needs a little more power

1 raider (17).jpg

1 raider (18).jpg

Oooops yes a little to fast

1 raider (19).jpg

1 raider (20).jpg

Works also great with a servotester.

Will be back later with more pics.

And if you have some Raider pics yourself just through them inhere.

I had it one time with Futaba radio which I think is very critical on the power supply.

When moving all the servo's at ones there was some hesitation and after 3 times all stopped and the receiver switched off.

The strange thing was that the voltage staid okay but is was the power (amps ) that the ESC/BEC could not supply enough.

With a new ESC/Bec all was okay.

Want strange to me was that the voltage staid the same but still there was a shutdown of the receiver.

Hi Roger,

Maybe you can slide the Lipo 5mm more forward, that could make the difference.

Most of the time is a sensitive elevator a cg just a little to aft and the 5mm lipo more forward can make the difference.

Great to know your club members like the Corby

Hi Roger,

Great the Corby had its maiden flight I think the best would be to at some weight in the nose.

Looks like the Corby is a bit tail heavy.

For tipping over maybe use a bigger wheel or a thin wheel to have less resistance from the grass.

Can't wait to se the Corby in flight.

Thread: E-Glider new design called RedEagle
04/12/2016 12:10:58

Thank you TP iam doing me best as much I can, and look forward seeing you build pics.

Great that you like my builds and specially the Corby. Yes it will make a great model for the Aussie model airfield because on big airfields, I think there must be one on every location. Which is very nice for us modellers because there are so many and so many colours schemes to choose from.

Hi TP, Great that you like the RedEagle you won't regret building and flying this model.

A) The first 10x6 was a very poor prop from HK the 9.5x5 was much better in quality and pitch, so that was way better, I did find a new Gemfan 10x6 via Banggood and that works very nice. But to be honest both work just fine. But don't expect vertical performance.

B) Yes the D2830 is 3.17mm but keep in mind you need to chance the shaft and rotate it 180 degrees and that's not an easy job. The spinner I use is this one **LINK** as you an see there is a 3 and 3,2mm version. You can also select you own 2830 or even 2836 motor because every 1000KV will work just fine. Think this motor will also be fine **LINK** and that's with a 3mm shaft.

C) The size is a Lipo 3S 2200ma and a 20C will be more than fine, iam using my old pack because it climes more than enough for me and will gives me flights of minimal 30 min.

D) There are two samples of aileron wings in this thread and it seems like they work fine, so why not copy those.

E) Yes for that a 2836 will work just fine you can even go for a hotter version let say 1200-1400KV or a bigger prop on the 1000KV.

F) For the plan **LINK** or go to RBCkits for a complete kit.

Hope this answers you questions and don't forget to post pics when you start the build.

The Corby will respond good on the ailerons and will do a roll very nice on small throws.

Not every model should fly on 45 degrees aileron throwssurprise, it can also be set much less wink
