Hi Roger,

Maybe you can slide the Lipo 5mm more forward, that could make the difference.

Most of the time is a sensitive elevator a cg just a little to aft and the 5mm lipo more forward can make the difference.

Great to know your club members like the Corby

Hi Roger,

Great the Corby had its maiden flight I think the best would be to at some weight in the nose.

Looks like the Corby is a bit tail heavy.

For tipping over maybe use a bigger wheel or a thin wheel to have less resistance from the grass.

Can't wait to se the Corby in flight.

Thread: E-Glider new design called RedEagle

Thank you TP iam doing me best as much I can, and look forward seeing you build pics.

Great that you like my builds and specially the Corby. Yes it will make a great model for the Aussie model airfield because on big airfields, I think there must be one on every location. Which is very nice for us modellers because there are so many and so many colours schemes to choose from.

03/12/2016 23:26:45

Hi TP, Great that you like the RedEagle you won't regret building and flying this model.

A) The first 10x6 was a very poor prop from HK the 9.5x5 was much better in quality and pitch, so that was way better, I did find a new Gemfan 10x6 via Banggood and that works very nice. But to be honest both work just fine. But don't expect vertical performance.

B) Yes the D2830 is 3.17mm but keep in mind you need to chance the shaft and rotate it 180 degrees and that's not an easy job. The spinner I use is this one **LINK** as you an see there is a 3 and 3,2mm version. You can also select you own 2830 or even 2836 motor because every 1000KV will work just fine. Think this motor will also be fine **LINK** and that's with a 3mm shaft.

C) The size is a Lipo 3S 2200ma and a 20C will be more than fine, iam using my old pack because it climes more than enough for me and will gives me flights of minimal 30 min.

D) There are two samples of aileron wings in this thread and it seems like they work fine, so why not copy those.

E) Yes for that a 2836 will work just fine you can even go for a hotter version let say 1200-1400KV or a bigger prop on the 1000KV.

F) For the plan **LINK** or go to RBCkits for a complete kit.

Hope this answers you questions and don't forget to post pics when you start the build.

Not many new pics, so I guess not many models being build from the RCM&E freeplans.

Hope my new Microwarbirds Rata and Tempest will make a change.

The Corby will respond good on the ailerons and will do a roll very nice on small throws.

Not every model should fly on 45 degrees aileron throwssurprise, it can also be set much less wink

Hi Peter,

With such a great pilot nothing can go wrong on the maiden.

JD8 , yes have seen your post on the Rata great looking model, but not yet read the post.

Will have a look maybe I can help.

Tim, Great your building the Rata and sorry for the mistake on the drawing, even more sorry because its my mistake.

I seem to have switched the numbers on the part W1 should be the mainspar and 2mm balsa , W3 is the trailing edge and 3mm balsa. I even have checked the plan from RCME but totally overlooked the mistake crying

fout nummering rata w1 en w3.jpg

Here is a pic of my original drawing with the mistake on the parts crying

The slots in the ribs should be okay for the right mainspar of 2mm balsa.

The aileron spar is correct and oversize and should be cut to correct size when glued in place.

Cheers Ton

As mentioned in the magazine that there is a build blog, what else can I do than start posting my pics and because shooting pics is fun to do, I have a lot of them to post in here.

mw rata i16.jpg

mw tempest.jpg

The Rata I16 and Tempest are good fun to fly but a little bit more difficult to build than my earlier P51 and FW190. But I think with the help of the pics it should be no problem at all.

If you have any question please ask, or if you have start your own build please do post your pic in here.

Lets start with the Rata smiley

This is the prototype location of the servo it should go as much as possible forward to get the cg without to much lead.

Nice yes

26/10/2016 21:28:29

Peter, I have no side trust but then the rudder is not Neutral also.

So if you can best is to give the motor some side trust.

I have no down trust and that's works okay on my Corby

Roger, woooo thanks for the lovely pics like the cockpit with dash and pilot in the Corby.

Must have been lots of fun to make and makes the Corby just perfect.

I do hope you enjoy both models, as I still do myself, because both prototype models for the plan still fly great.

Must admit that with the mistake of the plan size, the Corby looks great and could be a nice size for another design.

Must admit those experimental homebuild planes make great models.

Just a small question what motor and prop will you be using in the Corby.

Enjoy the maiden and looking forward to lots of pics or even better a vdo.
