Thread: Step craft CNC machine
Herri- I have a 19mm board on mine, I do find lite ply hard to keep flat so there are a couple of screws to stop the ply shifting around the base board then strips of double sided tape work well. When the base board gets carved up mix some sawdust with PVA and fill the cuts then machine the base board flat again.
Airpaddler- the DOC is set to the thickness of the wood being cut, thin ply could do with some double sided tape to keep it firm as it tends to flex as the cutter goes through.
I've just put a couple of videos up in the sandbox of my cnc machine, here's the last one that I did cutting 6mm birch ply dihedral brace using Cut2D to draw it and make the G-code for the cnc machine, I cannot get to grips with any cad programs yet and just use the Vetric Cut2D to make my drawings and generate the G code for the cnc. My cnc is run using an Xpro board and GRBL panel or UGS which are quite easy to use but have less features than Mach 3 and give results that I'm happy with.

Thread: Baby Flea
Hello Maz Z
Looking at those computer generated pictures made me think of the asp 160 flat twin that is calling out for this style of aircraft for it to be fitted into, would it be feasible to scale it up for that size of engine what sort of size would it end up at, or just stick with a 91 fs if the 160 twin is to big.
MZ, that looks interesting I'm very fond of some of the old home built designs. What sort of power plant are you thinking of using. Keep the updates coming I'll be watching this one.
Thread: Home needed for a ASP160
It would be nice to see the cylinders, not seen the Mustfire?
I've got a ASP160 engine that needs an airframe, I know a piper cub would suit this engine but I was wondering what else is out there to put it into, plus I already have two cub's. Another possibility might be the astro hog from slec. Any ideas??
Thread: club politics
Its not just this hobby that has problems with rules and politics, I own a couple of ex military land rovers that I attend shows with and will be away at the largest military show next week ( Folkstone ), I used to belong to a club that was 99% ex military landrovers, every thing was running fine with some rules that every large club needs to have then some places went up for re election on the committee. A few people got elected and started making changes, and made it their club at this point myself and 5 other members walked and formed our own group not a club, we all run it and say what we want and run it the way we want, no one in charge and we all muck in, we even allow a couple of guy's from the ''other'' club to come and display with us. We only have one rule and that is '' you are an adult act like one '' which I think covers everything including safety as there is always Beer flowing of an evening.
I belong to 2 clubs one is large 150 members the other has 18, large club has lots of rules, small club has one basic rule, be sensible...........
Thread: Throttle arm
there is around 10mm difference between the center of the push rod and throttle arm its not very clear in the pics it was hard to get the right camera angle.
I like the idear of the u-bend so simple............
I need to extend a throttle arm by about 10mm to line up with better with the servo, I can not think how to do this. Dose anyone have any easy to do mod that will put the arm more in line with the servo and do away with the crank in the throttle linkage (see attached pics)
