Thread: New Firmware
KF I've looked at that post a few times and can see that I will have trouble before I start !!
CB If you think that the 6XR & 8XR will still work on the D8 mode then there's light at the end of the tunnel for me. For now I will use the Taranis as it is with out changing anything.
Thanks for your help.............
I have not done much flying in the last year, and have slowly been building/repairing so have not needed to do any new models/programming on my Taranis. I have been looking at the Frsky section recently and see that there has been a lot of chat about the new firmware regarding EU regs ect,I'm still using Companion 9X with mostly older receivers DR4-11,V8R4-11,V8FR & a couple of X6R's and 2 XR8's all pre EU upgrade. Is there any need to upgrade to the latest firmware on the TX and then have the problems that others have had with the RX's. I don't use the telemetry that much and most of my models are flying with the XJT module as I have more of the older RX's.

Tony, my ''to build list'' has just increased by 1........
Thread: Cleaning cockpit canopy - advice please
Chrome polish works well on Perspex, that might be worth a try along the edge or a corner before you commit to a large visible section in the middle....
Thread: How far do you travel to the nearest decent model shop?
No 0--5 so did 5-10 but its 4.5 miles to Avicraft for me
Thread: Prangster Problem!
On my Prangster I glued a 10mm foam block to the fuz for the wing to butt up against so that the wing would always seat in the same position and a couple of strips about 10mm square on the under side of the wing to set the wing central on the fuz, I've not flown mine for about a year now but I think I put a bit of a mix EL to TH. I think my C of G is set around 75mm. Some of the later Prangster's have a smaller wing cord compared to the first ones. One thing I will say about them is that they take a lot of abuse, mine has landed/arrived at every possible angle, it's had 3 wing spars, 2 engine mounts / ply box, the last spar I replaced is a solid length without the joiner in it as that was causing a weak point just after the alloy joiner. Fantastic hack model.......

Thread: What is the best tool in your workshop
My best & most useful tools are:
Laser cross hair automatic level
Heavy duty gas soldering iron
and my late fathers archimedes drill with a 1mm bit which is great at drilling pilot holes for screws to stop the wood from splitting when the screw is driven in
Thread: Winter seems to have arrived, who's been flying?
I got out for an hour last Saturday which is good for me as I'm a fair weather flyer normally, mind you the patch was very wet and had to park at the gate and walk to the strip (only about 150 yds)

Thread: The most stupid/embarassing things youve done whilst flying...other than crash
I took a plane down to the club field, unpacked my gear, plugged the battery in, did the range check and picked up the plane, walked over to the patch looking at the plane, whilst I was walking and noticed that both the props were missing as I had not put them on after changing at home............
Thread: Sleep patterns and shift working
I'm much the same as Avtur, 37 years in transport ( bus driver ). I'm at my best when I sleep for around 4-5 hours when I have an early start getting up at 0330Hr but when I work late turn getting home after 0100Hr I tend to have 7-8 hours sleep. I used to do 7 nights once every 2 months which totally messed with my body clock so I gave that duty up. Now I'm semi retired working 2 days in the first week then 3 days the next week my sleep pattern has not changed much and I find it hard to go to bed before 0000Hr. The first thing that I did when changing to part time work was to set an alarm for 0915Hr on my mobile for days off, and cautioned work not to call me before that time if they needed me to work overtime. After 37 years of getting up at silly 'o'clock I'm going to enjoy my spare time.......
Thread: FW Ta-154 Moskito
I've built one & its tough as old boots, 3 heavy arrivals, the last one was very heavy & broke the fuz, I stuck it all back together and it flies just like it did the first time straight as a die with the contra rotating motors...
Thread: Taranis - Trim Reversal
Thanks Lads I have just sorted this one with your help ( Chris, Beb & Pacmc ) I would have answered early but I had to attend our Anniversary meal !!! Bless her she's had to put up with me for 22yrs of Military vehicle shows & now RC planes as well.
Hi Chris, I will pop out to the shed later today and have a look at the TX settings
I've a similar problem setting the timers up on a new model, the run time only stops at full throttle, but I can not see what's been done or what I have done to make this happen. Any ideas ??

Thread: Screw loose
Do you have access to some die's Richard, if so make a new bolt with a split die & open it up as much as the holder will allow, this will cut an over large thread which will be a tighter fit in the tapped hole. You can make the bolt with a piece of 3mm rod with a short thread on the top and screw on a nut using high strength thread lock to make the head, then when its set cut the bottom section of thread using the opened up die.

Hi Richard VD probably the bolt is under size, try some other bolts with a bit of luck you might find one that's a better fit.
Thread: Do you stick to your TX maker's RXs?
