Thanks Denis, that's most helpful!

Hello all. Been a while since I've been on here to any extent and I'm sorry it's to ask a question! I've had a wander over to where I think I need to go for some flying, but I can't work out where to go. Can anyone offer any advice or (even better) is anyone going over there and would be happy to show a newbie the ropes? I'm on holiday in Hebden Bridge until Friday and would love to get some flying in.

Looks a bit like the Super Flying Model kit that Ripmax are importing now:

When my last shunt failed and i was waiting for my surgery I joked to my wife about fixing it myself with some fuel tube and a scalpel. She wasn't amused

I've got a condition called Hydrocephalus and recently I was made aware that Roald Dahl and an engine maker designed a shunt to treat the condition. Goes to show that we modellers can be very resourceful:

Thread: Summer is here!!....Who's been flying??

It seems like an age since I've been flying. Between moving house and a full time job (that I've just quit!) my flying time has been woeful

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps. I'm particularly interested by the suggestion about insulating the floor using visqueen and celotex. Found some useful videos on youtube. I've got someone coming to quote for the roof insulation on Tuesday, so we'll see. If it's too pricey i'll have a go myself!

In modeller terms i'm a veritable spring chicken at 37, so i should get a good 40+ years out of it. The main thing is less a cost thing and more that i want to make it feel comfortable enough to use regularly and doesn't feel like a cold garage.

You've all given me a LOT to think about. I think the best plan is to get a professional in, as I'm totally out of my depth!

Just moved into a new house and I've got a single garage to play with. I've bought 3 lots of kitchen cabinet to create a 3m long work bench, put an ikea unit in for storage and a long Ikea table for a second bench. I'll pop some pics up soon.

I've got a corrugated plastic roof and would like to insulate it and bought 7 sections of celotex foil covered foam panels for the job. Would i be able to glue them to the roof? I'm loath to put bolts through in case it brings water through.

In my experience most event organisers (of all flavours) will usually give discounts to the groups that they need to encourage to come to the show. With the age spread of modelling being what it is, it seems eminently sensible not to offer an OAP discount, as the older members of society are the bulk of the modelling fraternity. I'd offer a discount to children if I was the organisers. In the same vein, I'm a concert organiser with a younger audience and I don't offer student discounts, because they're amongst the main audience!

I've been interested in one of these for a while. Are you removing the wings to get it in the car and, if so, how easy it it?

I had the same fruitless Internet search as you. I hope someone can shed some light!
Thread: Best all round scale glider?
30/05/2016 22:21:17
I was thinking about 3m span. That wing weakness is concerning. I'd rather spend a bit more if that is a common fault.
30/05/2016 22:02:59
Good call. I was wondering about that or the KA8. Have you got the Pilatus?
30/05/2016 21:39:15
I've got a soft spot for scale gliders, but a lot seem to be a bit heavier. I'd like something that will thermal with ease, can do mild aeros and will hold its own on the slope.

Am I asking for too much from one model?

Pretty sure they did them at some point. Looking at HobbyStores i can see my point about HK not being the cheapest point to buy at is still valid: http://www.hobbystores.co.uk/default.asp?WPG=HOB_HomePage1&PageNumber=1&s=c:030,b:VQModels
