Thread: Kit builders, what would you like???
10/05/2016 17:24:07
I've said it before, but those VQ kits can be bought from tax paying UK suppliers for less money than Hobbyking are selling them. Check Inwood if you don't believe me!

That's the one

It was a mild reply in general, but it used an asterisked swearword beginning with the third letter of the alphabet. One that is often viewed as the strongest of all

What email provider do you use?

02/05/2016 20:41:08

You should be able to set up your email as IMAP, which will leave a copy for all devices to see unless you delete it. Currently it sounds like you're using your email with POP3 settings.

Thread: Estrella from Hobbyking
17/04/2016 11:55:37
I'd challenge anyone to build a model and cover it in solarfilm to that standard for 150 quid.

The one thing I'm wondering is that now they're charging prices like this, how long will people bother buying kits from Hobbyking? Recently i noticed they were selling a VQ kit and it was cheaper to buy it from Inwood and it seems to be becoming more the case. I'd always prefer to buy in the UK and these days i see less incentive to buy from HK.

Another vote for the HK pylon racer.

Thread: Next model after a FlyFly Ask 21?
07/04/2016 14:38:18

Really happy with the set up I have on this model but fancy stopping up to something slightly higher quality. I have entertained a Royal Model Fox, so I can do some nice aerobatics, but I'd dearly love a scale ASW20, although my car restricts me to about 3m span and all the Artf ones are pushing 4m or more. I'm definitely wanting artf, rather than kit, as I don't have enough faith in my finishing skills and want it to look sleek!

Thread: where to go in the Eastern region

Old Hunstanton cliffs are supposed to be good in the right wind direction, otherwise it is a case of heading inland to Ivinghoe Beacon or Honey Hill, at the bottom of the A14. I recently discovered the joys of sloping, but live in Cambridge, so I can only reiterate how frustrating the flatlands are!

Thread: St. Agnes Head wind speeds

Blimey, felt stronger than that!

01/04/2016 20:39:18

What was the wind speed the other day? Couldn't quite get a feel for it.

27/03/2016 21:12:57

Excellent, thanks James! You were very accommodating. Wish I'd spent longer there. Did you stay for long? Next time I'm down this neck of the woods I will ensure I bring more models for the conditions!

27/03/2016 16:56:46

I did it. Nerve racking, but someone else kindly gave me a launch and my tatty Durably P51 ascended to the clouds. I was too scared to try my Ask21 so figured something I'd be willing to lose was safer. The wind was blowing me backwards, but it coped admirably. Came a bit further back than intended but nowhere near other people and still with lift. Only had one flight but it was worth it. Will try it again soon with something less draggy. Top stuff.

I've been debating going today, but I've never flown in anything over 25mph winds. Today looks pretty full on. Any tips? Can't afford to replace my glider this month...

In Cambridge if you have Virgin then they have their own infrastructure that they bought from NTL (Cambridge cable before that) and it hooks into the main BT exchange. Always got the impression from their installers this was quite common.

Thread: Sources of balsa in St. Ives, Cornwall?
24/03/2016 11:05:32

I've pranged the leading edge of my glider while on holiday and need a couple of bits of balsa, but don't know of anywhere I could get some. The place is popular with artists, so I'm sure there must be somewhere that sells bits and pieces that would get me through. Any thoughts?

Thread: St. Agnes Head wind speeds

Thanks flight1, I'm going to investigate some powered site possibilities today and i'lol go at natural tomorrow

21/03/2016 23:24:59

Fortunately the direction looks OK here, I'm just worried about driving 40 minutes for no lift. I guess I could find a field or beach that isn't national trust land and break out some powered flying, but I can do that at home

I've come to Cornwall with some sloping in mind, but the next few days seem to be pretty light on wind. I've brought a FlyFly Ask 21 with me and not sure what winds would be too weak for it...

Thread: Cheap ARTF sloper suggestions?
